why is it that some football grounds have triangular flags on their pitch and some have squares?????

I think that winning the F.A. Cup entitles you to use special shaped flags rather than regulation (square) ones, the rules for referees do not stipulate the shape of the flag, just the height of the pole on the corner flags - halfway flags are a matter of choice for the club.
