Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. What are the rules and regs regarding the use of Microwaves and toasters and other such eqpt in Single Living in Accommodation?
I have been to several units now and it seems some say they are allowed and others try to ban them?
Surely if food in the cookhouse is bad then guys/gals should be able to "cook" there own food.

  2. A lot of it depends on the Unit. Many try and ban cooking in rooms due to fire risk. However a microwave should not be a problem, as long as it is in good working order, been electrically tested and registered with CQMS or what ever local policy sets out.

The new accommodation (the type with en-suite in rooms, SLAM etc..) being built at units have a 2 ring electric hob on each floor in the utility rooms so this will allow the lads to do some cooking.
