    An East Anglian based company is looking to recruit a Site Manager to join their team based in Great Blakenham, Suffolk.

    The company was established in 1997, they are a specialist company that design, manufacture and install Air Traffic Control Rooms. A very successful company they are currently working on control rooms in the Middle East, Africa as well as here in the UK. They currently require a Site Manager to assist with the delivery and completion of these projects. You will be answerable to the companies Contracts Manager (Ex RE) but you will be given full responsibility for the delivery of this project.

    Job Description

    Manage and coordinate the site installation of an Air Traffic Control Room in either the UK or overseas locations, ensuring that the finished construction meets the required specification and scope of supply.

    Responsibilities include –

    • Maintaining contact with sub-contractors and suppliers.
    • Selection and procurement of stores and materials.
    • Expedite orders and arrange delivery to meet programme deliverables.
    • Supervise site installation.
    • Maintain Site notes, construction records and daily site diary.
    • Liaison with the main contractor.
    • Attend Site review meetings and report progress.
    • Collate records, test certificates, drawings and equipment information
    • Prepare operating and maintenance instructions for “Hand-over” documentation.

    Candidate Profile –

    The ideal candidate will have had experience within the building or construction industry with an understanding of building principles, trades and scopes.

    The candidate will ideally be able to:

    • Read and interpret construction drawings
    • Experienced in site safety issues – Risk Assessments preferably to NEBOSH general certificate standard.
    • Communicate at management and site levels.
    • Man-manage and supervise sub-contractors.
    • Maintain site discipline and work standards.
    • Establish good communication and relationships with contractors.
    • Ability to write reports and maintain records.
    • Ability to work at heights
    • Have an understanding of construction tolerance and levels of acceptance
    • Ability to solve on-site problems and improvise according to site conditions
    • To exercise attention to detail and demonstrate a degree of common sense.
    • Must be able to work alone and also be prepared to work away from home for periods.
    • Have a “hands on” attitude to work.

    Qualifications –

    The successful candidate will have a minimum of GCSE grade c in English and Maths, or an accepted equivalent. A technical based qualification would be preferable, but is not essential. You will need to be computer literate and be conversant in all Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word and Excel. Microsoft Project would be an advantage.

    Applicant must hold a Full UK Driving Licence, a current British passport and hold recognised Health and Safety qualifications.

    Other qualifications that are desirable are –

    • CITB trained
    • CSCS card holder
    • Civil engineering background
    • Knowledge of material technology and electrical systems
