Comrade Corbyn to the fore - whither (or wither) the Labour Party?

Let me get this right, early starts for breakfast, late opening in the evening and extra hours during the summer, yeah? All that on a 4 day week?
It was a key policy of the last Labour government called Extended School and I spent 100s of thousands putting it into practice and achieved very little long term.

I worked with a primary school in a deprived area. The head offered FREE breakfast to children and parents if the parents sat down and had it with the children. In the three years I worked with her she never served on free meal to a parent.
I have sons 1 and 2 and beautiful new DIL involved in primary education, no surprise to me in that.

Some of the country could do with a big dose of reality. They'd be the first ones crying their eyes out when it all goes wrong.
Indeed, but about 5 years of Marxist mismanagement, terrorist sympathies, destruction of intelligence values, colossal spending requiring 10-15 years of extreme prudence to fix and unfettered immigration is vastly too high a price to pay for a lesson that many people are too narrow minded or too dim to comprehend.

To honour some of our international agreements, I wonder if the shredders and thermite will have a busy time of it should Jeremy win. I can imagine that a lot of caveated stuff will find itself in an interesting status, with several agencies declaring that HMG cannot have sight of it.

It depends upon how much of the swords to ploughshares policy gets implemented. If it's significant, then I suspect it will take a lot longer for us to get back into the game.

. . . meanwhile, in other news, wheat production has tripled and No 5 Tractor Factory is recognised as a Hero of Socialist Labour . . .
In further TRUTH, number 6 factory now producing Austin Allegroes.

I'm given to understand that if Seamus enters Downing Street he will not be granted a security clearance and thus will not be allowed near anything even slightly geheim секрет.

Are you a Communist/Marxist then?

Bit of a lefty. Democratic lefty. Certain amout of State management of strategic assets, infrastructure and public service for me, rather than selling everything to foreign governments and dodgy offshore businesses. That sort of lefty.

But given that the sake has already occurred, and decades past, are you enough of a lefty to want to take them back at a cost of every private pension fund tanking (which these days EVERYONE with a job has a private pension), adding 10% to the national debt in a oner, having those newly nationalised industries stagnate delivering a worse service than the previously privatised ones AND put a cabal of hard line communists with a history of hating this nation's values (and the values of our allies) in downing Street?

Because ultimately that is what will happen, and the majority of those goal and ends will be done for no reason other than spite towards "others".

Naturally, when he fails to deliver on any of his promises, for whatever reason(s), the MSM will be all over his case calling him a liar. ;)
What media? There will be only one outlet allowed: BBC.

If you’re voting for Steptoe & his politburo then frankly, you’re a congenital Fcuking idiot. The alternative isn’t up to much, but at least the can be relied on not to:

  1. Bankrupt the country
  2. Fcuk those with jobs over with eye watering tax rises
  3. Steal private pensions
  4. Destroy public services through incompetence
  5. Allow unfettered immigration
  6. Generally p*ss off all our allies
  7. Take transport & utilities back to the 1970’s
  8. Persecute a religious/racial group
  9. Destroy our armed & security forces
And I’ve note even hadn’t a brew yet to get my thoughts together.

The sort of lefty that would put our strategic assets in the hands of enthusiastic supporters of murderous terrorists and regimes. That sort of lefty.

I'm really enjoying watching you explain how to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Instinctively the idea that certain national assets are in national ownership has some appeal to me.

However

I know in my heart of hearts (and based on my own experience) it would be utter dogpoo.

Quite a decent little summary, @ScaleyAlbereto. And I thought that you only liked fat chicks. :)

So, you're saying that it's right and proper to unilaterally change pension provisions? Yes?

Or is this just whatabouttery, worthy of the lowest right wing riff raff on Arrse (hi, @Helm)?
I would say it's right and proper to level the playing field, so that men and women get the same provision of pensions at the same ages. There was plenty of lead time, just a lot of people "didn't bother to check".

What I find particularly amusing about Labour's stance on this is that for once a politician gave a straight and honest answer (Boris on the ITV head-to-head to a female audience member of a certain age, saying no we can't promise you magic fairy dust, free unicorns or an unaffordable reimbursement of a previous policy decision) and immediately Labour, who never saw a band wagon they wouldn't make a flying leap for, promise magic fairy dust, free unicorns and an unbudgeted £58billion reimbursement.

It's enough to make a cat laugh.

Was that because of parental indifference or because they were going to work?
