As I've said on numerous other threads (and this one) the bits of the NHS that are working beat and are most trusted (in general, some examples are terrible) are GPs, dentists, community pharmacy and opticians. All of which are private companies under contract to the NHS. And have been since 1947-9 depending on when you date things from. The bits that are most up shit creak are those operated as local government departments such as many of the hospital trusts. Or the services sectors.

I thought McDonnell said that Corbyn would resign as Labour leader if they lost the election. Came as a bit a surprise to Corbyn I understand.

I think you probably aren't tuned in to the correct philosophy

Momentum will only allow a correct replacement for Corbyn when they are certain that a proper socialist will replace him.
Corbyn is the cuddly face of the real Labour Party.

Momentum have no say in who is selected to be in the running for leader, that is down to the PLP. If they do not nominate a hard left candidate (15% of the PLP) then no hard left candidate can go before the party to be voted in as leader. Keeping JC in the hot seat is the only way Momentum can retain power.

In which case, it would suit Momentum to have a smaller PLP where the candidates they have put into safe seats (Leicester for example) will make up a larger percentage.

GPs are still employed by the local NHS Board and my GP practice is one of the worst in Scotland. They were asked to take over an adjoining practice which was badly managed and failed. They did so, as there was a lot of money involved, but they took in more than they can chew, subsequently services are crap, takes at least four weeks to get an appointment, sometimes longer, repeat prescriptions are meant to take two working days take a week to appear.

And there is no solution coming from the NHS Board, who after all are responsible for GP provision. On top of this the Council are authorising hundreds of new houses, without ensuring the current infrastructure can cope! Life's good eh?
