Comrade Corbyn to the fore - whither (or wither) the Labour Party?

We had a poster not so long back who was pointing out the 'fairness' of North Korea's electoral system. Amazing what a range of intellectual ability this forum attracts.
That was me. It was in response to a reply to a post of mine asking a Labour apologist what NSDAP stood for which was countered with "what does DPRK stand for?". Amusingly, both terms are correct, the Nazis were Socialists, and DPRK was set up using free and fair elections (though things changed a bit when Mr Kim Senior took power).

"That this House is appalled, but barely surprised, at the revelations in M15 files regarding the bizarre and inhumane proposals to use pigeons as flying bombs; recognises the important and live-saving role of carrier pigeons in two world wars and wonders at the lack of gratitude towards these gentle creatures; and believes that humans represent the most obscene, perverted, cruel, uncivilised and lethal species ever to inhabit the planet and looks forward to the day when the inevitable asteroid slams into the earth and wipes them out thus giving nature the opportunity to start again"

I thought he usually shouted at them. Anyhoo I'm glad to see he always got his priorities right......

That was the level of his political capabilities then and nothing much has changed since. Student politics at it's best. The scary thing is that he could be PM!

Well done for a moment I thought that was a clever hoax you'd made, it was quite disconcerting to find it's genuine

Who knew Corbyn was a Pidgeon shouting Bugsy walt

The Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) is a rubber-stamp body with no power.

Elected every five years, the parliament is the only legislative body North Korea has.

"I know that international media often hedge their reporting a bit, saying the SPA has 'little' power or influence - but that's not correct. It has zero," said Mr Tertitskiy.

Laws are in fact written by the party apparatus and then merely approved by the SPA as a formality.
That sounds rather similar to the EU

Looks like Labour's point of no return is fast approaching:

Labour's split laid bare as 160 MPs and peers attend launch of Tom Watson's new moderate group

apologies to those who can't get behind the paywall.

It looks as though the moderates tactic is not to schism but remain branded as Labour as they defy the leadership and attempt to dodge deselection, presumably until something turns up... or not
Here this one's not behind a paywall.

Former New Labour rivals bury the hatchet to back Tom Watson's new moderate group

"We're not the ERG. We're not a party within a party. We're providing a space for people from all wings of the party to bring forward new ideas. This is about the coming together of the TBs and the GBs."

Blairites and Brownites coming together in harmony, what could possibly go wrong?

I can see the Sun's headlines now;

TBGB's give me the heebie-jeebies!

Still trying to be all things to all people so as to gather votes. Labour. Promise the world and achieve the sweet FA.

They've clearly concluded that leaving Labour is the path to oblivion but, unless they can change the grassroots arithmetic, they can back Tom Watson to the skies for all the good it'll do. If Corbyn dies it might create sufficient confusion for the centre/centre right to sneak a candidate through but that's an outside chance - I can't see the comrades giving up power easily after years of passing on fun Friday nights out in favour of discussing Composite B of Motion 16 regarding the forcible redistribution of the nation's supply of bat droppings.
