Commissioned officer to Phase 1 recruit how does that work?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm currently a serving ACF officer who is in the process of resigning his commission to enlist in the RMP as a regular soldier. I am just curious as to who is going to be aware of this at phase 1 training? The less people know the better I would say. Also I have heard that ex ACF get a lot of stick during phase 1 and 2, is this true?

  2. My advice would be to keep it quiet...

We have a fair few lads come to my TA unit from the ACF, and theres about a 50/50 mix of good lads/walts....

Its a shame the lads who are decent, hardworking types get tarred with the same brush as the walts, who generally claim to have been on exercise with baseball bats, knuckle dusters etc, and claim they dont need to do first aid/skill at arms as they've done them to death in the cadets....

Keep it quiet, draw on your experience, and above all.....dont tell tall tales to try and get peoples respect!!

Good luck mate, the RMP are a good lot to join in many ways......
