Combined Cadet Forces - School Staff Instructor (SSI)

Job Alert... Charterhouse is a successful and ambitious school in an inspiringly beautiful setting. Founded in 1611, it moved to its present magnificent 250 acre site near Godalming in 1872. The School has over 800 pupils aged between 13 and 18, all of whom, except for about 40 ‘day boarders’, are boarders.

Combined Cadet Forces - School Staff Instructor (SSI)

The SSI is a vital member of staff and is essential to the smooth running of the contingent. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with knowledge of the cadet forces, military experience and an understanding of the G4 process.

The SSI is employed by the school and in all aspects of the job relating to CCF activities, the SSI is accountable to the Contingent Commander. The SSI must have high standards of personal conduct, integrity and professionalism to maintain the high standards of the contingent and the School. The SSI is to provide the liaison between the contingent and HQ 11 Infantry Brigade, including the Cadet Training Team (CTT). He/she is also to liaise with the Air Cadet and Royal Navy Headquarters and Youth Teams.

This is a full-time role, all year round, working an average of 37.5 hours a week, Monday-Friday and may include Saturdays and/or Sundays depending on CCF weekend activities. Inevitably, at certain points during the School's terms, the workload is intense, while other periods are quieter. Reduced attendance may be permissible during the school holidays when otherwise not required for the completion of normal responsibilities, or for attendance on CCF camps, adventurous training expeditions, courses and competitions, as agreed in advance with the Contingent Commander.
