Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hello there, I was just wondering if any one knows because I am colour blind can i still join the army as a brick layer?

    Thanks for your help.
  2. Assuming that you're not so colour blind that you can't distinguish between different colours of bricks and mortars, it probably won't matter. You will sit a colour blindness test during your medical. I've not known people fail for colour blindness, but it can restrict the jobs you can do. As an example, you won't be able to drive on an airfield, where an additional licence (issued after an additional colour blindness test) is required.
  3. Spotter!
  4. Once new a colourblind Sparky, don't know how he managed to slip through the net, but it didn't seem to hinder him, until he had to do multi coloured control cable. If you want tobe a bricky then i don't think you will have a problem and as you won't be putting up a brick wall on a runway then i think that you will be ok.
