Colombian army river ambush video

#1
The Colombian army made a "funniest home video" of their raking this boat with machine gun fire. Click where it says "video"; then click where it says "banda ancha" (broadband).
if anyone can speekie de lingo please translate a bit of the text as to tell the gist of the tale please.

'row, row, row the boat.......'

Why is it sick , without a translation we don't know what the context is. ie Who is the bloke with a yellow circle round him and why ?

I understand its an ambush....call me old fashioned but the idea of multiple positions opening up with what at least is GPMG, but which sounds bigger to me, is.....sick. You are of course right tho' the guy in the boat might have skinned 100 children alive.

Also...and am I wrong in this...they all have hoods...then are sitting upright and plodding along at a leisurely pace...I think these guys should maybe lose the hoods and lower their heads :? I suppose they thought they had cover(t/ed) heads.

Ambush?

How can you do a platoon ambush without multiple gun groups? Or are you suggesting that every second man should hold fire, to make it more sporting? :?

Video of the Army reveals the death of supposed chief of the Front 44 of the Farc

Élmer Mata Caviedes, who according to the recording died in a military operation, was a son of the integral (now deceased member) of the secretariat, Noel Mata Mata.

The videotape recorded by men who took part in the combat, shows the moment in that a command of the Lancers' Grouping (Aglan Det) engaged five longboats where there were mobilized members of the oriental block of the Farc on the river Papunaúa (Vaupés).

Élmer Mata or ‘ Albeiro Cordova ’ was intercepted in a stretch of the river by the specialist group, which managed to locate it after intercepting a communication from a phone satellite, as it informed THE TIME last October 31.

In the image, ‘ Cordova ‘ is in the front part of the longboat and seems as if he had detected the military men camouflaged in the swamp on the banks of the river. Nevertheless, the man tries to give orders.

In this moment, the military men receive the order to shoot and a blast of machine guns and rifles impact on the boats.

‘ Cordova ‘ and ‘ Hyacinth ‘, chief of the front 39 – who also was mobilized in the longboats–, die at once. According to information of the Army, the guerrilla column (approximately 100 men), was going to Pipe Rubiales, where three petroleum wells exist.

Who was ‘ Albeiro Cordova ’?

Élmer Mata Caviedes, alias ‘ Albeiro Cordova ’, was a member for more than 30 years of the Farc and was a son of Noel Mata, ‘ Efraín Guzmán ‘, member of the secretariat that died in 2003, and was replaced by Iván Rivers. He was a member of a kidnapping syndicate involved in the kidnapping of 2.200 inhabitants of Port Alvira.

Fair comment. Maybe I have a far too rigid concept of why an ambush is employed, i.e. to minimize casualties on a main force. Seems to me if they knew they were there, they could have easily taken them 'down' by other methods. I guess it saves on the cost of imprisonment and possible hostage taking to attempt prisoner release.(I'm guessing there were more than 3/4 guns...also....but....)

My training in the employment of an ambush was to maximise firepower and surprise to inflict a maximum number of casualties on "them", while sustaining a minimum number of "us" wounded.

Listen, I've never let a (live) round off anywhere but on a range...so feel free to totally ignore me. But you are talking about an ambush 'patrol' protecting a 'mother' force?

i think the video is showing a very crap but effective ambush on a rebel leader (the one with the yellow circle) prob from (farc) a rebel group im guessing this because its the only word i could make out of all the writing.

they all toasted marshmallows on the fire afterwards which they all prob enjoyed after being in a LUP prior to the ambush for 3 days carving little stick men from surrounding branches and being eatin alive by gringo trouser ants (there very dangerous species them)which would explain the jerky camera movement trying to shake the buggers off instead of filming ur mates making alot of splashing in the water (sorry mates u should have zeroed them first):D
