That's the South West.

Are there any plans for anything similar in the South East?

So sorry, obviously I've failed the geography test!! Yes we are definitely planning on holding more of these. Last year we were in Portsmouth and Salisbury and after these three, the plan is to hold more. Where are you thinking?

Kent, Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex are in the South East.

Other charities put on breakfast/ coffee clubs. Have considered having representation at these events? It could save time, effort and money as well as reaching a wider audience. In my case I’m particularly thinking of BLESMA.

We are looking to hold an event in Wales but there is discussion about whether it should be in South Wales or in the north. I do understand that we need to try to go to as many places as possible and the aim to to hold these regularly.

I can see someone has commented about the cost. I aim to either book church halls which in this instance is less than £50 or clubs like the RAFA club which has kindly provided the venue for free. We are genuinely careful as to how we spend funds, but I would point out that 84p in the £ is spent on veteran care and support and for every £ spent on fundraising we raise £4.89.

Hi Sarah might be worth a pitch at Town Halls and Council offices, it's a good way to test their commitment to the Armed Forces covenant.
Will be collecting for you in Oxfordshire on the 6th May.
Best wishes

Thank you for your support!

I have contacted the local councils, anyone with any mention of veterans in the titles, Lord Lieutenants, NHS trusts in the relevant areas, veterans' breakfast clubs, HIVEs where applicable. I've posted on free event websites, the Sandbag Times and the Military Times have kindly put information out.

It's always difficult when organising these, as until the day, it's hard to know just how popular these will be.

Sarah might be worth a pitch on LinkedIn, or even via The List who have regional meetings in London, Salisbury, Edinburgh and somewhere in the Midlands!
Our Oxfordshire Rep could be worth a call as he uses Oxford Colleges and has an in with some other venues.

Any Home counties really. Where @Joker62 said plus perhaps including Herts, Essex, Bucks or outer London.

I'm sensing from your posts that your resources are severely limited. Can I ask who the target audience is? is it for never-served civvies (and I mean that with the greatest respect) who would like to get involved with veteran welfare, or for veterans as a peer support network?

Sarah,

If you have a Facebook presence, create a page, paste a link here and it can be spread quickly through regimental associations, etc. I'd happily link it, but my group is for the Geordie Hussars. Can't get much further away and still be in England.

There are two aims really; one to thank current supporters, show them the difference they make. The other is to find new supporters.

As we don't receive any central government funding and as we've seen a large increase in referrals, we need to spread the message that if you support veterans and want to make a difference, please consider supporting our work.

I saw a stat that there are approximately 2.5 million veterans in the UK. If you then assume their family connections, that's about 10 million people who are 'warm' to military charities. We've been going for 100 years and yet we probably aren't nearly as well known as some of the others. These events will hopefully go some way to changing that.

I only became involved/got to know of you when my son was looked after by you on a 6 weeker. As an ex Infanteer I knew the CS name but had never really seen much about you.
The Military Mind which I attend is great for the corporate/business end but a network of strong regional hubs would be ideal. Final idea could you try and link up with the Veteran Breakfast clubs, something I had heard some of the smaller charities were looking at.

Hi, sorry for the late response. There isn't a page but there is this Facebook post Funnily enough, around Newcastle is another venue we are looking at for next year. I always visit for Remembrance Sunday (youngest is part of HMS Calliope) so would be a win/win!

Sarah, Walking With The Wounded have a serious presence in the North so a chat with Tommy Watson could be well worth while.
Military Hubs at the likes of Broughton House could be worth a pitch at.

Small world, I've been in contact with Tommy Watson in the past!
