I'm having issues with my new Vista install and playing video files. A number of files I have aren't playing properly, or at all. For instance, some AVIs will play, some will cock up the sound, and some won't play full stop.

Can anyone recommend a selection of decent codecs that will allow me to play a wide variety of video files on Media Player, so I can enjoy my new porn collection in peace?

    Cheers :D
  2. I've always found this lot rather useful, but then I've used them with 32-bit Vista; I can't speak for how well they work with the 64-bit variety.
  3. Seconded. Found and have not been unable to play a vid since.

VLC Media player, as recommended by Spaz, above. Plays the lot. All you'll ever need.

    Spot on, cheers lads.

I actually uninstalled this from my mate's laptop the other day in an effort to clean up the mess he'd got it in. Having never heard of it I figured it was a waste of resources. When he's finished cleaning his HDD and it's back to 100%, then I'll recommend he get it back!
  6. try this. This little app will tell you what codec you need for each file you have. so instead of DL and installing loads you can be very selective.
  7. Under vista the CCCP codec pack is all you need to play pretty much everything. Possibly you might consider AC3 filter if your wanting to stream the DTS tracks from MKV files to an external decoder/amp.
