The Army is opening the gates of its Winchester training regiment to greater public scrutiny. A new independent advisory panel will be offcially launched next month to watch how the Army trains its recruits at the Sir John Moore Barracks in Littleton. The eight person panel is expected to give advise to the CO about aspects of the recruits training & produce an annual report. It is part of a nationwide initiative in the wake of concerns about how the Army trains entrants. There have been a couple of incidents at Winchester of ill-treatment. The panel chairman said members of the panel would be able to turn up at anytime & speak to anyone about recruits training.
