Climate Change: Scientists Say "Last Chance"

You missed the point; which is the first world economy already has to some extent birth control by choice. The third world like having kids and so if you can't get them to stop in situ, why not simply move them to the first world where choice will by default reduce the number.

Unless they get free money for having them. Thaty would apply to native citizens as well.

Your second paragraph is utter nonsense.
What was it Churchill said about the wealthy retreating to their estates and riding out a German occupation ?

I think the cold war changed everything in the minds of the wealthy and its primary concern is to enjoy its wealth. The petty competition between states became very real, as the world stared into the abyss of nuclear war. Psychologically I think post cold war the primary goal of the wealthy has being to promote and prod government towards global collaboration, but the world lacked a unifying fear anymore and now we have climate change.

A population dependent on government, is a compliant body of people. Remember the quote from Jay Gould i.e. 'I could hire one-half of the working class to kill the other half'. The idea that a person with the power has zero responsibility or loyalty to the people and sees them as simply a large mob of the proletariat who would do to death the other, for money.

Hence govt's reluctance to let go entirely of the control imposed during the covid kerfuffle. They're enjoying it just a little too much for my comfort and I suspect many of the restrictions imposed will remain, helped along by factions in the pro and anti vax camps.

Most people preferred smaller communities, some land, a piece of property and freedom from overbearing state control.
1 Yet millions herd themselves into tiny houses in cities and suffer the feral results of crowding: gangs/crime/pollution.
2. Yet millions vote for socialist/communist governments and the promise of something for free.

Your claims do not bear the exposure of reality.
You must have missed the 'Enclosure Act' in O Level History.

SA is a perfect microcosm of the forces behind the scenes I'm talking about, which are manipulating the system. The republic stood for however many decades and then at the end of the cold war, the ruling class in South Africa who had shown themselves to be quite stiff necked, just collapsed overnight and that doesn't just happen by accident.

In actuality; the wealthy of the world are the ones who fund and control to some extent the politicians and a new world, meant the old could be simply discarded like an old pair of shoes and the white working classes of SA were told to forget about the past and embrace the future overnight. I think Covid was dubbed the great reset for a very good reason, that the world has now changed and many in the west are still oblivious to its consequences.

Do you really see the Russians, Chinese, the Western-aligned nations and various Islamic factions coalescing around one global government?

Your first statement is not correct, most of those "small" communities were owned and controlled by landowners that treated their workforce as nothing more than the "s" word. The feudal system might seem to have disappeared but even up to the first world war farm hands and those in rural communities were not that much better off.

People moved to the cities in the belief that they could escape that feudal existence, but just traded the old regime to one just as bad in the mill and factory owners.

We have multi-national companies, multi-national governance and multi-national diversity. A wealthy ruling class who have taken to calling the world a global village. Certainly, Russia/China and a slack hand of countries aren't anything like on board, but whoever said Rome was built in a day.

Every conspiracy theorist's wet dream. Next you'll be claiming that all the world's finances are owned by a select few who levitate across Egyptian waterways.

Not sure if the old style of the Thames flooding is the same as the NEW climate change style of the Thames flooding, but...... The approach seems to be different.

Just build defences and get on with life.

Why do you think the next controlling power would be a single controlling government? As has been observed here and elsewhere multi nationals are becoming increasingly powerful. Summoned by select committees and not bothering to turn up, Mark Zuckerberg of FB fame, funding all sorts of destabilising efforts, people, allegedly, like Soros.

The whole point of the next development in control is it's unlikely to be recognised until it's established. Some of the corporations and indeed some individuals have purchasing power and influence on a par with small and not so small countries.

I'm sure people a few hundred years back would have found the unification of the UK unthinkable,

'What Wessex, Kent and Mercia serve under the same king? never going to happen.'

I suspect a whole new political system will take over from the current ones. Whether it's better or worse than the old ways remains to be seen. Consider the national anthem of Ankh-Morpork

Exactly my thoughts, which is we are going through one of those once in a half century big shifts in power and thanks to the convenience of covid and climate change, the policies have a scientific consensus and as such we are encouraged to not think or oppose too deeply these shifts.

Without having to dig too deeply, minimal research suggests that those who favour such a view are the type of men over 30 but still living with their mother, looking for a scapegoat to blame for their utter failure in life.
