Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. PORN WAS DOWNLOADED

Hundreds of civil servants from a single government department have been disciplined for downloading pornographic images.

More than two million pages of porn were accessed in just eight months by staff at the huge Department for Work and Pensions.

According to the Sun newspaper more than 18,000 involved images of child abuse.

One person has been convicted as a result of computer monitoring while 16 have been sacked and another three resigned.

Two people are still under investigation while 221 more have been disciplined by Whitehall chiefs for misconduct.

One official alone reportedly accessed 103,000 hardcore images.

They are among a reported 2,319,569 pornographic "hits" found since the crackdown began in December.

The DWP regularly screened its computers for potentially offensive and inappropriate material, a spokeswoman said.

"When material proves such use of one of its computers disciplinary action will be taken and may well lead to criminal prosecution," she said.

"In the majority of cases where monitoring has picked up apparent inappropriate use further investigation shows that staff innocently followed a link from another site and were unaware of its content.

2 million hits........do they do any work?

  2. 8O

  3. Too right they should be sacked!!!

  4. Not that regularly then 8O

  5. 2.3 million hits in 8 months not really that big a number when you look at the number of people who 'work' in DWP (several thousand, - don't have figures to hand).

Also need to bear in mind some definitions of 'pornography' include subjects like page 3 8O

Kiddy porn is different though

  6. Fecks sake, how does this 'quote' thing work :?

  7. Aha, had 'disable BBCode' ticked - guess you all knew that though

  8. It works out to about 10,000 a day! IMHO thats a lot!

  9. That's why the MoD seats were so expensive - wipe clean with a tissue holder and a special "reclining"" position!

  10. It is as a figure in isolation. Like I said, you need to consider what they regard as porn. I've just been informed by our resident internet nazi that the site link for the olympic babes on another thread has shown up on his screening software!!

It just means one person is working really hard on finding porn sites!!

  11. always thought civil servants (or uncivil as all the ones ive met have been)
are just a load of *******.

kiddy fiddles however, deserve death by a thousand cuts

  12. I have a question - only vaguely related...will/does the new DII system have a porn 'filter' on it? I have been told that everyone will have access to the internet......and it got me thinking.....
