I'm not entirely sure I've got the acronym right, I'm afraid I just spelt it how it sounds. As a junior TA officer I heard someone muttering about CIMIC jobs out in Iraq recently and that they were looking for volunteers. What are they? What do they do? and if I was a lieutenant what might I be doing?

CIMIC stands for Civil-military cooperation. The Joint CIMIC Group based at Gibraltar Barracks Camberley will be able to give you all the info you need. In a nutshell they negotiate with al the civil agencies out in theatre such as the NGO's.
