Does anybody know where you can obtain this stuff commercially?
I remember it used to be issued in the 24 hour ration packs and I loved it.
Thanks in advance and await incoming. :D

I have a 450g tin from the 10 men compo, you can have it for a donation to the begging bowl.

EDIT: Just checked the tin and it is 2 months out of date.

Yeah,I'm afraid so.
I must admit that I am the only person I know who does like it though.
Always found it had a good strong taste.

Can't beleive anyone likes cheese possessed - yukk!!!

When its mother hubbard time in yer cupboards its okay for a toastie - but only in desperation.

Try leaving it on a plate in the kitchen overnight and see how tough it gets by morning - oofyah!!! :D

It always made a great cheese sauce for cauliflower cheese...

But the best use was to play "Chicken"....

Remember the "fire pits" we all used to dig up on Soltau on exercise? After a few beers, we'd toss in a few cans of "Cheese, Possessed" and see who was the bravest - i.e. those who sat closest to the flames until the molten goop exploded from the cans like Vesuviius on a bad day!

I used a tin of it in a cricket tea for sandwiches and on a french stick.
Went down a treat along with the rest of the 10 man rat pack.
Only me and another former soldier knew what it was. Do it every year and no complaints.

Try Morrisons.

Bavarian cheese, processed, smoked with brown rand.

Austrian cheese, processed, smoked and packaged in a brown roll shape.

Taste almost identical.

Once heard an Army Chef saying Cheese possessed was actually from Austria. Mind you he was trying to defend its taste and consistency.

Actually, when sliced thinly from the tin onto "The Biscuit" could keep you going for days!

The devil's cheese is still to be found in the ten man rat packs. Speak to your local TA or even Reg Chef's (if not outsourced to ESS/pay as you dine).

Best bet is your local TA unit. It will cause such reminisence that someone will put out the feelers etc.

Most Army Chefs chuck it out or sell it to the RA for ammo or......

In a bad mood chop it up(also grate it) and spread it amongst expensive cheese boards in fancy dinners.

Ooops - trade secret is now out :D

To be fair, you can use it. It is fit for purpose but don't ever feed it to Dolphins.

Personally I thought it was an abomination. Unless so bladdered you almost cut your fingers off cutting it to make cheese on toast. But in that condition you'd eat anything.. blood and all.

Which reminds me..... periods!!! Add salad cream and you have marie rose sauce plus the built in prawn.

Flashbacks!!! I'd fone my therapist but he's probably pished right now. Cnut I'm on nightshift supposed to be working :D

I always thought if you cut both ends of the can (for many menues) slowly pressing one end allowed you to cut the extruding body to any thickness.

of course one needed a sharp knife. and not a 4 pound hammer.
