Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does anybody know where you can obtain this stuff commercially?
I remember it used to be issued in the 24 hour ration packs and I loved it.
Thanks in advance and await incoming. :D
  2. I have a 450g tin from the 10 men compo, you can have it for a donation to the begging bowl.

EDIT: Just checked the tin and it is 2 months out of date.
  3. Name your price and direct me to the begging bowl.
NB.If it's a donation to ARRSE,I was going to do that anyway.

    Many thanks.

    Once again,many thanks.
  7. You being serious?
  8. Yeah,I'm afraid so.
I must admit that I am the only person I know who does like it though.
Always found it had a good strong taste.
  9. I'll admit it had a stong taste, not so sure about the good though!
  10. Makes a bloody good cheesy hammy eggy!!!!
  11. I noticed that Tesco have a tinned cheese amongst their carribean range, might be worh a try
  12. Can't beleive anyone likes cheese possessed - yukk!!!

When its mother hubbard time in yer cupboards its okay for a toastie - but only in desperation.

Try leaving it on a plate in the kitchen overnight and see how tough it gets by morning - oofyah!!! :D
  13. It always made a great cheese sauce for cauliflower cheese...

But the best use was to play "Chicken"....

Remember the "fire pits" we all used to dig up on Soltau on exercise? After a few beers, we'd toss in a few cans of "Cheese, Possessed" and see who was the bravest - i.e. those who sat closest to the flames until the molten goop exploded from the cans like Vesuviius on a bad day!
  14. I used a tin of it in a cricket tea for sandwiches and on a french stick.
Went down a treat along with the rest of the 10 man rat pack.
Only me and another former soldier knew what it was. Do it every year and no complaints.

  15. Try Morrisons.

Bavarian cheese, processed, smoked with brown rand.

Austrian cheese, processed, smoked and packaged in a brown roll shape.

    Taste almost identical.

Once heard an Army Chef saying Cheese possessed was actually from Austria. Mind you he was trying to defend its taste and consistency.

Actually, when sliced thinly from the tin onto "The Biscuit" could keep you going for days!
