Changes To Site ??

#1
Has there been a slight change to the site appearance.
The reviews on the right hand side of the page have disappeared and the "new posts" appears different.

PS, It appears like this using IE9 plus Firefox

Some of the bigger ones of the last few days missed - show again change spotting.

What you noticed is a bit more in a long series of changes to make pages load faster. In this case getting rid of the small and pointless avatars in recent posts blocks on the right here and on the front page, so saving your browser 10 and 15 requests respectively for each page load. The temporary removal of the recent reviews deals with a side effect. At the moment the block would show my changes to other pages, not the reviews.

Other changes have been binning an ad agency that caused slow loads, multiple servers of course, storing static stuff like images on a 3rd party 'content delivery network' and some more technical and boring stuff related to the way pages are processed by your browser. Some caused serious side effects (and continue to cause side effects in IE6 and 7), but in the last month or so we've halfed the page load time for a first time load of most pages on the site and what remains is tidying and fixing those IE6/7 issues rather than anything major.

Thanks for the reply.
Page load is quicker.

Actually just remembered a side effect that you told me about that isn't fixed - the highlighting of popular threads in the search results. Added to the list :)

Good CO.

Just like my password, as soon as I get used to it, it bloody changes.

Now stop it. I'm old and resistance to chance is strong in this one.

Bloody kids......Youth today (blah blah blah)

Oh thank you nurse, my meds!

I also see you have made the "This Tribe" tab hard to see :)

( just a joke in case anyone thinks I've lost the plot)

Is it still prompting for a new password every 6 months? I thought Bad CO cracked that nut ages ago.

I'm amazed at the way the ads select themselves. A rather caustic thread about bony flat models was footed by a bra ad. As if!
