Some of the bigger ones of the last few days missed - show again change spotting.
What you noticed is a bit more in a long series of changes to make pages load faster. In this case getting rid of the small and pointless avatars in recent posts blocks on the right here and on the front page, so saving your browser 10 and 15 requests respectively for each page load. The temporary removal of the recent reviews deals with a side effect. At the moment the block would show my changes to other pages, not the reviews.
Other changes have been binning an ad agency that caused slow loads, multiple servers of course, storing static stuff like images on a 3rd party 'content delivery network' and some more technical and boring stuff related to the way pages are processed by your browser. Some caused serious side effects (and continue to cause side effects in IE6 and 7), but in the last month or so we've halfed the page load time for a first time load of most pages on the site and what remains is tidying and fixing those IE6/7 issues rather than anything major.
