Chamber Pressures in CUP/LUP

Discussion in 'Weapons, Equipment & Rations' started by Bugsy, Jan 11, 2006.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Do any of the really clued-up gun buffs know of a formula to convert CUP/LUP to psi or bar?
I know what the abbreviations mean and I've found loads of stuff on them, but I have to convert them into units that Europeans (Germans in this case) can understand.
For instance, what would, say, 45,000 CUP be in psi or bar?
Can somebody please point me in the right direction? It's doin' me 'ead in, it is! :( :( :(

  2. Thanks very much indeed, Stoatman. Those links explain things very nicely indeed. You're certainly right when you say that the methods can't be compared, and I understand why now.
It still means I'm a bit Donald Ducked with my translation, though. But, on the other hand, it gives me an opportunity to slip in an "Anm. d. Übers" (Anmerkung des Übersetzers - Comment by the translator), which I rather like doing.

Thanks once again for taking the trouble to post. :D :D :D
