CGS:upgrading challenger and warrior.

Look at how StratCom sees the future:

Try as I might, I can't see any heavy armour in there, just hi-tech maritime and air platforms plus what's that? Light infantry training teams and SF....

Looks more like "look what Stratcom is being told to say"

Anyone with a working brain cell would honestly there is zero chance high intensity peer/near peer with all the toys that implies will never happen again. The chances of a peer/near peer high intensity war are frankly incalculable as no one really truthly knows what the risks are.

We can point to possible flash points. But we can't say which one will escalate into war.

1. DSDA ceased to exist over 10 years ago.

2. The storage of vehicles is managed by Babcock under the DSG contract and has been managed by engineers rather than the supply chain for the same period.

3. Ashchurch has continually been slated for closure/rebuild for over 30 years and frankly it's a basket case.
1, Was aware but posting from my (limited) knowledge of being at Ashchurch some 20ish years ago.

2. Again, was aware but as indicated in point 1, I have no personal experience of it. However, I do have knowledge of storage at TFSU(G) but again, that was now also about 20 years ago.

3. Yet again, was aware, it was slated for closure before I even got there, during my time there and obviously from your post since. Most of those I heard complaining about DSDA were RLC, officers and ORs, normally Vehicle Specialists or ex VS who no longer exist I believe.

The points I was making, or attempting to, were that whoever manages the stored fleet there are monitoring systems in place, how rigorous they are may be open for debate.

Once these get into the hands of the Light Infantry you have to ask yourself again what is the point or purpose of Light Cavalry?

Prevent loss of cap badges.

Well given that T1 is nearly 3 years late and T2 nearly 2 years I doubt there's any risk of anything. Also, it's not replacing JACKAL as far as I'm aware.

Hello, Withams?
yes mate, how can I help?
can we have all our Land Rovers back?

So the army hasn't yet decided how many, of which vehicle, it needs for which role, and hasn't yet ordered anything? But has a brigadier in charge just in case?

That says it all, really.

If you're keen on making that next promotion and speaking the truth will guarantee a lovely posting as OC Stores, Leek Training Camp or OC Proteus Training Camp....

It's amazing how convincing you can be.
It was a 3* speaking so unlikely that Proteus (there's a blast from the past) or even promotion will be his next destination.

MRVP has been around a while - and encompasses a multi platform buy of several thousand vehicles including a possible FMS option. It's latest delay is caused by the re-evaluation required by the IR.

I suppose you could put a LCpl in charge, it'd be interesting to see the result.

The reevaluation of the IR more likely says no money, use what you already have.
