CGS:upgrading challenger and warrior.

More a case of the Warrior upgrade program that was WSCP started in 2011, 10 years ago. Warrior entered service in 1984, 37 years ago. In that time the Army managed to swap the radios out, swap about half the fleet sights for a Thermal system and strapped extra armour on.

The 1980s plan to stabilise the gun never happened, a paper plan to fit a new turret after Warrior 2000 did well never happened. The power pack, transmission and tracks are pretty much as designed.

37 years to effectively do f**k all.

One wonders how difficult things were to deliver. There some serious questions to be asked of bods in charge here.

Can someone translate that into something that isn’t waffly nonesense.

It is what it is
Boxer is a great platform for Mech Inf
Boxer is NOT Warrior
Ajax is the problematic child

Sorry to ask but

How better Is the new gun? Or just a panic buy ?

Why ditch warrior and not bulldog or what ever its called now.
A year or two ago there was a company given a big contract to driclad loads of Bulldogs ready for storage .
Don't know if that's completed or now rescinded
I hope that is now being done with Warriors . Be criminal to gas axe them .

The US Army procurement office called, saying something about those being rookie numbers.

Yeah. GCV was mentioned on the call I took on the other line from you.

Question: the 'specialist' military press (they being of somewhat limited ability these days), the MSM and some of the commentators on YouTube make various references to the CR3's systems. This includes references to a new engine. I'd always assumed the powertrain upgrade was a separate project. Has all been lumped in together now?

I think what I'm really asking is does anyone have a source for what the CR3 will actually be fitted with - one that isn't a Janet-and-John "It's going to have a really, really big gun" travesty but a proper, grown-up report/listing.

From my understanding the APS will be a TES fit, for All deployed armour.

I‘ve heard what engine will be fitted, and how it’s very appropriate for the title of the thread, but it’s a bit far fetched :)
