Cats. Feline funnies and other stuff.

I'm sorry to say that Matty didn't make it.
He started off ok but then deteriorated with anaemia. It turned out that he also had calici, which complicated matters.
I'm consoling myself with the thought that he passed in comfort and in the company of caring hands, and not alone and freezing on the street, like his brother.

Maybe these things happen for a reason. A stray black and white kitten has appeared near where I live, so watch this space.
What a shame, RIP Matty. He was lucky to have someone who cared enough to help him.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words. I think the little black guy near me needs rescuing, if I can catch him.
If I had a black one I'd basically have a full set of contrasting kitties.

Might I suggest, if you can get it, some raw turkey thigh mince. I've not met a cat yet that can resist it

ETA: Chopped small makes it easier for small mouths to cope with, otherwise it gets like that scene from Lady and the Tramp - minus the Tramp :)

I'm sorry to hear that but you gave him his best chance

I couldn't reply this morning as the dust got too much for me ( it's getting to me again as I type ). . You can be proud that little Matty knew love and care in his short life thanks to you. I hope your love and kindness will be used maybe for this new little recruit and happiness will abound once more . I do hope so.
I feel for those who endlessly help out others whether it be animals or people . Kindness isn't shouted about is it . We should do , it's what keeps us going.

That reminds me, Arlo is due a bath!
Easy peasy!

  1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.
  2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
  3. In one smooth movement put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.
  4. At this point the cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this!
  5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'Power Wash' and 'Rinse'.
  6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the toilet and the front door.
  7. Stand well back, behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift the lid.
  8. The cat will rocket out of the lid, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.
  9. Both the toilet and the cat will be sparkling clean.
