Cats. Feline funnies and other stuff.

Does anyone know much about cat flu, my mates kitten has it, been to vets and separated from other cat that has been vaccinated. about two weeks in and not getting much better. just cleaning gunky eyes. is eating but sleeping loads...........Penny for thoughts?

Surely the more frames per second the better the quality...?

The gopro 7 lowers image quality in terms of the pixels it gives you when you go to 240 frames per second. It also doesn't give you the hypersmooth stability option either.

I guess it's 'brain' is too busy processing the sheer volume of images.

until this evening I had three cats, now down to two.
A week or ten days ago Wombat began wandering the house aimlessly and miaowing as he did so. Progressed to eating and drinking very little. Then unable to jump up on counters to furniture and then unable to go up stairs. I took him to the local vet and after tests of blood and urine, blood pressure etc and said possible stroke, gave me appetite stimulant ointment to put in his ear daily and a bag of Ringers Lactate solution to inject subcutaneously.
In his wandering around the house he kept getting himself stuck places: behind boxes, between the bathroom vanity and the wall, between the washer and the dryer etc.
Thursday he could barely stand up and walk so I called the vet again and she sent us to a VCA specialist hospital a couple of towns away. They did loads of tests, X-rays, MRI etc and yesterday made a little hole in his forehead to biopsy some gunk pressing on the brain. We were waiting for pathology results to decide if it was treatable or if it was time to end it. My son is coming in (already scheduled ) from Los Angeles tonight and we were going to the VCA tomorrow to decide and be there if he was put to sleep.

Wombat made the decision for us as I got a call this evening saying Wombat had passed away in his sleep. Tomorrow my son and I will be going to the VCA hospital (and pay bills, gulp!!!) and arrange when we will pick up his ashes.

The other two cats are wandering the house a bit, wondering where the grey furry housemate has gone.
A very sweet cat of 13 and a big hole is left in my heart.

BTW. VCA officially stands for Veterinary Corporation of America but it could stand for Very Costly Animals. The fees over the last few days have been eyewatering. I would tell you but it would confirm your suspicions that I am a crazy cat lover who should be in a home for the bewildered. VCA is a subdivision of Mars candy co. If they raise the prices of M&Ms, Mars Bars etc that could reduce the vet bills. In their defense though they have specialist vets that most vet offices do not have plus pricy equipment like MRIs.

Sorry to drone on a bit. It has been a bad day. some people would not understand mourning a cat but I think you guys will

A like is entirely the wrong icon, but I hope you understand the sentiment. A beautiful animal, and obviously a well-loved one.

Oh hell, that's lousy news! It can't be nice losing one of your long-term owners, but at least Wombat died knowing that he was loved. I don't doubt for a second that you and the vets from VCA gave him every chance.

We lost the wonderful Mr chippy a while ago and his brother seems lost and endlessly meiowing for him .
So in a couple of weeks we will try to introduce a little kitten to partially fill the hole in our hearts and give mr pumpkin something to stimulate him hope it works out
