Tbh I wish I still had a cat I could play these games with :)
Have you thought about volunteering at a local cat sanctuary ? Some even like someone just to visit and sit with semi ferals to get them used to human company .

That's actually a really good idea, thanks. I'll look into it :)

Mrs N and I volunteer here, plague permitting. As @Londo said can volunteer for anything from helping with morning routine, cleaning and feeding, to what we do which is cat socialising. We go in and give the critters lots of fuss and get climbed on, or in some cases, just sit and talk in low voices to the scared ones, the traumatised ones and the ferals, just to let them know that they are safe and we won’t hurt them.

Nothings better than being sat there when a pair of huge eyes and big whiskers creep out and give you that first tentative sniff...

edit: I realise of course that your most likely nowhere near me in the country but I imagine most shelters have similar needs.

Thank you for what you do @needlewaver . Proof that there are good people out there

Not near, no, but I'll look around locally to me thanks :)

If you wish we could mail order you a box of half a dozen or so?
Unfortunately we (read SWMBO, but I sort of agree with her) made the decision a few years ago Dusty would be our last, for a number of reasons.

In the same boat in this household . Plus I promised my dear old mum that when she pops her clogs I would take her two cats in . So I know what would happen if we did adopt a kitten .

I have done likewise (for a while).

My parents had a huge, fluffy, black and white cat called Wombat, He was what I think you call a tuxedo cat, mainly black with a white shirt front and front paws and black and white striped long socks at the back. They also had foxes they fed every day. Wombat thoroughly boxed the ears of one fox which got a bit too close to where he was sitting on the top front step. They left him very much alone after that.
I also have a long haired tuxedo cat called, oddly enough... Tuxedo! Tux for short.
