I'm trying to talk myself out of spending £250 on the Cyberpunk 2077 Collector's edition, mostly because it's drool-worthy (for me)
Oh, let me, let me!

Two words: seventy gigabyte Day One patch. Well, that's four words but you get my drift, eh?

Because of a game like that, on the scale that CDProjektRed is talking about, is bound to have a massive amount of problems that won't be fixed in time for launch. I've been burned too many times through pre-orders from various companies that I don't do it anymore, even for a game I'd almost literally kill to play.

But eh, if you're buying a Collector's Edition of a game, you're not really buying it for the game itself, you're buying it for whatever choice goodies you get with it. And if the goodies are really choice, who am I to carp? Albeit my inner tight-fisted Jockanese is saying that "£250 is a helluva lot of money to spend on anything entertainment related".

Thanks. I had the mouse wheel bug in Far Cry but was able to reassign to a key. This doesn't seem possible in New Dawn. The only reason it annoys is due to a side quest requiring me to destroy something by burning.
Have a swatch at this as well:

Key mapping in Far Cry New Dawn

It covers key remapping, which may fix your problem with the mouse wheel bug.

It's a hell of a lot of money for a game i agree, but I've been playing Cyberpunk since I was 15... I still have the books in my cupboard. In the same way I am waiting for the new Vampire game to appear.

The last full price game I bought was Assassin's Creed Origins. Collectors version :)

So I've played about 50 hours now of BF5 on the PC and ranked the medic up to its full ranking as well as a couple of tanks and dabbled in a few of the other classes to see how they perform.

The maps are fabulous to look at but for the love of god the actual playing of the game is dog toffee. I've been playing the BF franchise since the the start of BF2 (BF2, BF2142, BF3, BF4 & BF1) and can say that I have a good workmanlike performance that allows me to be in the top quarter of the board for most games. Not any more.

Because of EA/Dice's traditional rushing out of half finished games full of bugs and p*ss poor netcode I deliberately waited for a good six months so that they could all be patched out of the game (and for the inevitable huge price drop too) however it looks like honest to goodness skill and strategy have been dropped (with weapons nerfed to boot) in favour of a CoD style run and gun from flag to flag with no real point other than to get massive KDR's on the board.

Due to the piss poor game mechanics, abundant hacking, SMG instakills from tw*ts half a map away and being shot by people before I even see them coming around a corner as well the current focus on zerging flags I can honestly say that I won't be investing half as much time as I did with BF4 and BF1 (well over a couple of thousand hours over the past few years) on this game which is a shame as I've genuinely had some good times playing the franchise.

Don't get me wrong, £20 was about what I would have paid for it and I eventually did and it's a game you can play if you don't mind getting shot to shit by the hackers, script kiddies and on occasion some actually skilled players but when you see players openly posting 94-0 scores with the sniper class or hammering the ground forces with unshoot downable planes or seemingly indestructible tanks it just gets depressing and boring very quickly.

And dont even get me started on the clusterf*ck that is the TTD/TTK issue. How the **** is it that I can unload almost half a clip of SMG into a player and he has the time to turn and hit me with a headshot with a one shot pistol instakill?

Oh and in a 4 man squad assaulting a flag why am I always the first one that get cut to ribbons? When I'm running and firing and so is my enemy why can he always kill me with a one hit instashot whilst my bullets go all over the f*cking place and when flying how come the other pilot can out turn me even though we're in the same f*cking plane? I've seen the hackers youtube webpages, what is it they get out of ruining a game that was once renowned for skill rather than f*ckwittery and why did DICE/EA cave in to their demands?

Why I gave up FPS games years ago.

They're trolls not real hackers, they buy hacks to wind people up and have l33t stats

Triple A games are shite.

There. That just about covers it.

Pretty much why I avoid multiplayer games. COD Modern Warfare turned me off it when one player threw a grenade across the map and it actually homed in on me (you could see the arc turn mid flight) It was obvious that there was cheating despite the whole "you can't cheat, there are anti-cheat codes" bollocks that was being pumped out.

Battlefield had that too, I think it was BF3 where being sniped by an ammo crate was a common occurance

Stories like that are why I only ever played BF3 and MW3 in single-player after buying them for really cheap on console.

Have any of you PC VR gamers played "Blades and Sorcery" yet? I downloaded it the other day and it's a cracking medieval melee simulator if you've ever fancied being Maximus in Gladiator. Just make sure you have space to flail your arms around or you will end up hitting walls like I did...

I've just been taken aback to see that my Steam "games recommended for you" store front now includes what appears to be a hard-core porn Japanese anime game!

Blimey, I had no idea that Steam carried that type of stuff - I imagined that everything would be strictly family friendly, albeit with token age check.

I reckon Steam's marketing algorithym might be broken or corrupted, otherwise how did it choose this game for me "based on my previous purchases"? Now I'm a conventional sort of chap and might have been interested if the game had featured nubile East European chicks (I even keep one upstairs), but I've always had absolutely stone-cold disinterest in this anime/manga/jap cartoon stuff - wrong generation and all that.

I get the same thing with my Steam store. I think that Valve are trying to be edgy.

Looking over whats on sale now - anyone play Squad? Is it any good? I prefer pve rather than pvp but if its a laugh, I might be persuaded….

I haven't played Squad, but its sister game Post Scriptum set during Market Garden is built on the same engine and from the same developer and is good. If you get on a good server with people who know how to play tactically and use good VP etc it can be excellent.

Squad is excellent. Best sound of any war game, it’s brutal.
It only works with a good team though, it is very accurate in many aspects. Lone wolfing it will get very boring very quickly seeing as you will see the re-spawn locations a bit too often.

It is best played with mates as some of the ‘wannabe elite’ players get very pissy with noobs.

It is worth learning and persevering with.

Think i will get it - Any recommendations for teams to look for? My OH plays games as well (we are working our way through Division 2 at the moment), but not sure if she would be into this, so want to play with like-minded adults...
