Cancellation Fees when Posted Abroad

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Arrse collective,
I am after some help if possible. I'm posted abroad in a couple of months and Vodaphone are being complete knobbers about cancellation fees etc. Has anybody managed to get round this problem as I'm at my wits end with them!
  2. You have a legally binding contract, most of which is to recover the cost of the phone. It is highly unlikely they will agree to just let you cancell it early without paying some sort of fee. You may be as well to just keep the phone and contract going until the end of the contract period and then cancel it.

There was a WatchDog outrage session a while back about blokes suspending their contracts whilst on Ops and IIRC some of the phone companies said they'd be nice in future.

This may be of help to you?

Mobile phone contract suspension whilst deployed - Forums

Edited to Add: I appreciate the difference between Overseas Posting/Deployment - but I doubt phone Companies do. Always worth a blag.
  4. Vodafone will only suspend your contract until you're back in the UK last time I tried.
  5. I had them convert my contract to a pay-as-you-go account.

No worries, and a phone to use when back in UK.
