The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. the Canadian government is looking to finally retire the lee enfield talk of replacing it with the ruger scout rifle.:(
  2. Some context would be nice:

Canadian Ranger Rifle: Human Factors Requirements Validation - Defence Research and Development Canada

  3. Give 'em No. 5's

  5. If it performs satisfactorily then I would think the Ruger Scout rifle would be ideal.

  7. What to replace the Lee Enfield with? It's a dilemma and no mistake.

I presume they'll want a tried and tested design, possibly one where the replacement process has already been trialled in another country. I imagine with the Afghanistan experience so recent they'll want a larger, more punchy round than 5.56mm, too.

  10. There can only be one conceivable replacement. I don't think that I need state what it must be.

An American company, Criterion Barrels, are currently developing replacement No.4 Barrels, I have no idea what their reputation is like (@ugly , @4(T) . @stoatman any idea)

AIA (Aussie Co) had parts manufactured in Vietnam for their metric Lees, very mixed reviews regarding them and they seem to have vanished off the face of the earth.

You can get metric Lees from Ishapore in 8mm Mannlicher (8x50mmR),

How much of an industry is there for producing replacement parts for Lees?

  13. Scout with a longer barrel from something else in the ruger catalogue would be dandy.

Might need a bit more wood on the forend and over the barrel to stop Mr finger freezing to Mr metal.

Scout was looked at, but Canada was insistent that Colt Canada produce the replacement, so there were licensing issues that Ruger were not happy about.
