Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi,

    Can anyone help?

I was naive and ended up joining the BNP and voted for them once last year.

Have I basically blown all chances of getting into the army now?

The sad thing is i only did it as a joke, but i've been learning from this bad mistake the real hard way.

  2. A) Cnut.
    B) Why not?

If our chum Prince Harry can parade about in a Nazi Uniform for fun, then you won't have any problems. Political stance isn't something they ask about in the recruiting process. At all.

  3. You'll be fine. If I recall there was no question in my interviews regarding my Political persuasion. They'll not check. I wouldn't mention it, although technically it shouldn't matter.

  4. Why don't you apply and find out?

  5. I didn't want to waste anyones time so my mates brother said ask here first.

  6. Cancel your membership.

Get your papers in to the recruiting office.

  7. not that i'm trying to waste any of your time or anything i mean i didn't want to waste the interviewers time.

  8. sh1t wah, sh1t replies

  9. Oh noes... smudger is free!

I would go with dropshort, cancel the membership and move on :)

  10. Hey, you don't ask, you don't get. (You'll still get the p1ss ripped out of you, though).

Perhaps don't start your opening statement with "I'm a reformed National Socialist"

    Good Luck.

  11. Just take off your armband and don't salute

  12. People do it all the time ;)

Just ring them up for a first meeting just to chat about what your interests are within the Army, they will give you a plethora of literature on various trades, etc. Then once you've decided, ring them back up to let them know. You'll have another quick chat, get a few job briefs on the things you've chosen and they'll most likely book you in for your BARB (aptitude) test, etc. By this point you'll already have filled out and handed in your application form and medical forms. You'll then have a formal interview on your job choice(s) where they will quiz you on the job(s) you've chosen. Ie Where you do training, How long the training is, what the job entails, where the various Regts are based, etc. etc. and then another one exactly same, except this time with the Big Boss at the AFCO. And all the while you'll be training up and getting fit for selection. Pass that and jobs a gooden.

Not that you asked about any of that ^. I'm just ******* bored.

  13. An old favourite of mine seems applicable:

"Unfortunately, you do indeed appear to have no discernible leadership qualities.

Furthermore, you seem to be overly cautious, timid and lacking in self confidence.

A career in the military may not be for you.

Have you thought about the RAF?"

By Sandmanfez

  14. How would anyone Know? - wind up?

  15. A cop where i live got kicked out of the police because he was a member cause they found his name and address on some membership list, because it's illegal to be a bnp member or something.

I thought i was not going to be allowed to join the army just cause i was an idiot back then.

Thanks for the help everyone though.
