I am not a part of the British armed forces nor any other armed forces.

However, I am planning on joining.

I was wondering if a normal regular infantry soldier can transfer in to the Australian armed forces? Or is this only reserved for specialists and officer ranks?

PS: A soldier who has got British citizenship only.

Cheers.

Can you explain?

Please.
Having never actually done it so I'm not really equipped to be the oracle in this matter, but my understanding is that the process is not an official transfer between services. You leave one and join the other.

Well yeah, I believe so too..but if you have saved a position within the Aussie army before you even leave the Tommies, you would not really call it " leaving " right? Seems more like a transfer, even if on paper it is leaving - signing.

Just my personal logic here.
Tommies?

Yet it is not a transfer.

That's how Germans call the Brits. Similar to Brits calling Germans fritz or herman the german.

Well, at least I know it works :))) Whatever it is called.

Thank you for your answer.
Boxheads was the term we used, I was under the impressive Germans called us Inselaffe

Tonnes?

That's it...gotta get a plane ticket to Australia
Indtead of spending 22 years in the British army to get to Australia get an MEng after 5 years, marry a dirty Aussie bint and earn shit loads of money.

A career ambition of jumping out of the pot and in to the fire is retarded.

Why would you want to join the British Army? Are you a glory hunter?

I was once called a Tommy by my girlfriend, MFK. The Miserable Fat Kraut.

'Go home Tommy', she shouted at me one night.

I was amused.

It didn't last.

The whole "gas you" thing really isn't as funny as some might have led you to believe...trust me on this one.
That's why Herr H died, saw his gas bill and had a heart attack
