Call me Dave/Coalition waste some more loot...101 er 111

Anyone remember the special telephone line 101? It was a little idea to have a non-emergency phone line that people could use instead of 999 to report crimes that didn't require SO19 to pile in with their H&K MP5s.

It was, naturally a complete waste of time and money, being piloted then slowly dropped having cost the taxpayer £1.8 million
Well Dave and Co have a wonderful idea .... special telephone line 111

Dizzy Thinks: 111 - is that a glitch in the Matrix?

Alternatively it's a good idea as reducing the number of unneccessary 999 calls will save significantly more than the £1.8 million set up costs for the 111 line. Just a thought.

Alternaitvely we could all agree to change nothing, ever, and then carry on complaining about the fact that nothing changes.

The comments under that post explain it all really.

101/111 calls go through to the same call centres as 999.

Seems ******* facile to blame tories for this as ministers are still getting to grips with major spending commitments, tiny things like this are going to keep slipping through until the entire culture of frivalous waste is brought to heel within the public sector.

Well Dave's idea for the 111 line is no different to the 101 line which didn't work, it didn't save any money, so this is just re inventing something that failed and wasting time and Taxpayer's money .
