Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just that really,

What CAD (draughting/modelling/mapping etc) packages are in use and for what tasks?
  2. AutoCAD 2007 for civil, construction, E and M work. LisCAD for survey. Whilst the initial survey drawings are produced in LisCAD they are imported into AutoCAD and finished off in there.

I don't know what Geo use, sorry.
  3. wrong type of cad, i was thinking along the lines of terry thomas
  4. Currently being trialled is the new "direct input" laptop version of CAD to save surveying and transferring to CAD later this little beauty allows you to do it on site wireless.

They're currently having trouble with the save feature as people travelling over bumpy ground inadvertently wipe all their work out.

Due to be in service by 2999...probably.

  5. I've said for years that people buy full featured solid modelling packages and then use them like an etch a sketch.

Must say I'm not an Autocad fan.
  6. Used properly AutoCAD is good. The civils package is awesome for horizontal design. I don't know what the E & M package is like though.
