You would know better than me but isn't the William Perry decrying the current situation the same William Perry who led the massive cutbacks in both active and reserve personnel during the Clinton years. IIRC He also led the base closing efforts that determined that it was better to base Naval air assets tasked with patrolling the North Atlantic in Jacksonville, FL rather than NAS Brunswick in Maine. After all it only 2400 miles added to each patrol for an aircraft with a range of 4800nm.

Brilliant. You have the same sort of d1ckheads on your side of the pond as we do. Are the papers/media reminding him of his role in cutting the militayr resources?

Alas, we do not enjoy the vibrant press you in the UK still have. Our traditional "media" will largely do as they are told by our Masters and we will have to rely on coverage abroad or in the blogosphere that our Masters are now trying to gain control of as well.
