From Suzanne Malveaux CNN Thursday, November 25, 2004 Posted: 2243 GMT (0643 HKT) CRAWFORD, Texas (CNN) -- President Bush celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday with turkey "leftovers" Thursday in Texas and had birthday cake as his twin daughters turned 23. He also made calls to selected U.S. troops posted overseas to wish them a happy Thanksgiving, which has become a presidential tradition. Last year, Bush eluded most of the White House press corps when he paid a surprise visit to troops in Baghdad. (Full story) This year, the president spent the day at the Crawford ranch relaxing with his family, said deputy White House press secretary Claire Buchan. On Wednesday, the president and the first lady and her parents played hosts to the king and queen of Spain for a turkey lunch at the ranch. Thursday's menu was identical to the one served then. Buchan said the menu consisted of free-range fresh turkey with giblet gravy, prairie chapel bass, mashed sweet potatoes with maple syrup and chipotle peppers, pan-roasted root vegetables, walnuts and apples, cornbread stuffing, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, ice cream and Patz & Hall "Hyde" Chardonnay 2002. Birthday cake for the first couple's daughters -- Barbara and Jenna -- completed the holiday menu. The White House listed 10 members of the U.S. military overseas on Bush's call list, including two in Iraq, Army Sgt. Michael Lucas at Multinational Corps headquarters and Marine Cpl. Kevin Norris of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Falluja. Bush kept a low profile compared with last November's surprise visit to Baghdad, the first time a U.S. president had traveled to Iraq. A year later, U.S. and Iraqi forces are conducting anti-insurgency operations in Falluja, Mosul and in the province of Babil ahead of Iraqi elections scheduled for January 30. According to the Defense Department, 1,230 U.S. troops have died since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq. Jenna, left, and Barbara Bush -- seen here in a file photo -- assisted in their father's successful campaign for re-election. Why the fook is this newsworthy! Are they about to produce a video like the Hilton sisters?
