Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I have a DPM bush hat, but it looks dyer and all floppy any tricks or ways of making it look like the desert ones. like folded or cut i dont know.

  2. Or you could be really wacky and not follow the sheep by leaving the rim the length it was designed to be therefore allowing it to the job properly 8O

Then again looking good is far more important than becoming incapacitated and therefore becoming a burden on your unit I suppose
  3. I've only just realised you actually mean "dire". Sorry, carry on. :D

  4. haha, well ive just read something about moulding it almost in the same way a beret is done. who knows ill give it a try :D
  5. I always leave my bush hats the correct length. Bar the one I used in the Jungles.

THey are only cut down for jungle work due to lack of lighting under the canopy, which is where the practice originated from. Alas there is no requirement in the desert or around europe to cut the bush hats back other than to look "ally".

The only addition is a bit of elastic to stop it flying off my head if windy.
