Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Yep just read this on BBC website
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/6270626.stm

My bold and where I P*ssed my self

  2. Think the burka's been used in this way for a while: seem to recall a male terror suspect in the UK fleeing the country dressed in a burka fairly recently?

  3. and who can forget John Simpson getting felt up the bazaar while wearing a burka and he's 6ft plus!

  4. I remember speaking to a chap from the Algerian Education Ministry (who bore a remarkable resemblance to Jean Reno btw, if anyone else has ever met him) who told me a great story. According to him, married Algerian women used to sneak their lovers in and out of the house in burqas.

At the time he was speaking about Arab tradition held that men and women have seperate spaces for socialising. So, when hubby saw two pairs of shoes outside wifey's room he wouldn't enter, since being in the presence of a female not his relative could be seen as an insult to her family and could invite vengeance. Meanwhile, the happy couple are going at it like scimitars.

He used this as an example of how the burqa actually empowered women!
