Bulger Killer Jon Venables Released from Prison

Photos of them both come out regularly - real and not. The latest ones of Venables doing the rounds at the moment are certainly plausible enough. Of course, the people sharing them don't really care who gets hurt when they're wrong

Father killed himself after hate mob wrongly accused him of being James Bulger child killer Robert Thompson | Daily Mail Online

For a big city Liverpool's a really small village. If he had of joined up he'd have been found out eventually. There's just too many Scousers in the Army for him to get away with it for long.
Perhaps, but it’s been reported that Venables went drinking in Liverpool and even went to Everton games, James’ mother mentioned this the other night on a tv programme. I would have thought that would be a pretty stupid thing to do, but I doubt Venables was placed a million miles from Liverpool anyway.

He was working in Warrington up until the mid-late 2000's, but what really astounded me was that he was placed in a secure unit (Redbank) a mere 15 miles from Liverpool after he was initially locked up.

Not that surpring, I think there are only a handful of secure units in the country. He was locked up anyway. I suppose when he worked in Warrington, his mates wanted to go to Liverpool for nights out. They would be a bit suspicious if he told them he wasn’t allowed there, I’m just speculating of course.

The rumours about him being in the Army have been going round for years! I first heard it in NI in about 2001. I think it was the RGJ he was supposed to be in at the time.

I reckon a battalion full of Scousers would have been a death sentence for him if it had ever come out who he was...
It may have been suicidal of him to join the Green Jackets. He may have fond himself dead and buried by army issued spades by the roadside in a shallow grave.

If the legal system allows some scum a new identity, that is one thing.

If that means the vetting system for joining the military is bypassed and said scum can now be the person you have to trust your life on...... then the Legal system is seriously flawed.

Its not that likely that he would be in the forces, where everyone knows a heck of a lot about each other and spends so much time together, though is it?

He is more likely in a mundane 9 to 5 job where most of the other workers don't know your name and if you don't go to the pub or socialise then you're just regarded as a miserable bugger that they will disregard.

I know which option I would choose to keep my head down and be as unobtrusive as possible.

I covered this a while back either on this or a different thread. I had a lengthy chat with a Sergeant who was going round YOI/ secure units looking for potential recruits. Venables happened to be at Redbank at the time. The Sergeant said to me when I spoke to him that he wouldn't even consider a murderer.

This was just the usual media bollocks. It really should die a death.

As stated by others, Venables in a unit of scousers would not have lasted long apart from the moral questions of employing him.

Thanks for that, reassuring to know.
I must have missed that post.

That's different to living as close together as squaddies do though. Even normal questions lads from the same area would ask each other (what school did you go to? what footie team did you play for? where you from in the city?) would increase the chances of him being caught out at some point. I just don't see him being able to keep up the lie for long.

Imagine stagging on at the barracks with Venables, at 0400hrs, when you are both bored shitless, tired, and looking for things to talk about. It would be so easy for Venable's secrets to come out.

Most soldiers know fuck all about each other, I doubt he was ever in the army, but its a good a place as any for someone to make up their past.

People lie all the time, making up your past isnt that hard.

He spent 6 years working for a local authority as an assistant project manager.

The chances are he was more normal than his work colleagues.

Tomorrow is 25 years since that horrific event. One of those crimes that still seems to shock the nation, understandably so. I always thought those boys most have nerves of steel to crack on with life after committing such an act, or they don’t give a hoot. The latter I would guess.

She drops a bullock on Facebook and then goes on to post asking for a lawyer and legal advice :)
She's a Scouser, Liverpool will be in flames tonight as an outrage mob goes on the rampage.

Stupid, stupid, stupid actress. Half of Leverpool must know what he looks like now. I'm surprised we didn't give them new identities in Rotherham or the Falklands where they would fit in
