Browning since 1967?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The news keeps saying that the Browning has been around since 1967. (I suppose the mean mean the L9 because the British Army had High powers before the L9.) I was on a Cadet Armourers course in 1963 and we were trained on them way back then. I was just wondering where the 1967 date came from?

  2. First year without someone wearing an ND in the arse?

  3. Mine was a Canadian made version stamped 1944, the canadian Army, British SOE and airborn troops used them in WW2.

  4. Call me a sad pedantic git if you like but I believe the 1967 figure refers specifically to the L9A1 variant of the Browning HP.

    That's right, I know things.
