British troops in Iraq for another four years

  1. Yet another quick fix. Bliar can now say that the timetable for a withdrawal is now in place. Amazing based on one whistle-stop tour and a chat with a well meaning man who will have done really well if he still Iraqi PM 6 months from now. I, for one, am not holding my breath. Sorry for the pessimism :(
     
  2. There has been neverending speculation about the length of stay for British troops. No one knows. Blair will most likely be out of office before British troops pull out.

    I can imagine Brit troops being there in ten years time. And the Yank for the next 50+ if King Georges advisers have their way.

    The coalition will handover all provinces except Anbar and Basra,which should allow the coalition to focus our resources in those two areas to more effectively deal with the radical elements. A drawdown to 5000 UK troops and 100,000 US is very doable by the end of the year.
