  1. SOLDIER ON MURDER CHARGE

A British soldier has been arrested over the murder of a civilian in Iraq.

Kevin Williams, 21, will appear at Bow Street Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Scotland Yard said the suspect had been questioned at a London police station.

The Attorney General asked detectives to investigate the death of Hassan Said earlier this year.

Hassan Said, also known as Hassan Said, is believed to have been shot while being arrested in the British zone of southern Iraq in August last year.

Little is known about the incident in which he died.

Scotland Yard announced in May this year that it was investigating the case.

A statement today said: "This morning's arrest follows advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

"Earlier this year, the Attorney General, via the CPS, asked the MPS to investigate the death of Hassan Said, an Iraqi citizen who died in Ad-Dayr, in south eastern Iraq on August 3, 2003.

"An investigation was launched by the Met's Homicide Command, which is part of the Specialist Crime Directorate."

This is clearly now policy-get the 'whiter than white' hats on, fellas. Get away from the Crazy Yanks. And hang out to dry every PBI who does what he thought was the right thing, on the ground.

There must have been an in-theatre tribunal, which got nowhere (ie dismissed the whole bloody nonsense) and now CPS want a bite, so they unleash their Bloodhounds in Blue.

Remember the magic words,lads- " I aint saying nothing till my brief gets here"

Poor sod, how old is he? :(
