British Muslims get angry again- oooooohh scary pants time!

Muslims burned the flag of St George and called for the Queen to 'Go to Hell' in a furious rally held in London over Salman Rushdie's knighthood.

Angry Muslim extremists rallying at Regents Park Mosque said that anger over the award could match the fierce reaction to publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in Denmark in 2006.

Organisers of a protest outside the mosque claimed several hundred demonstrators were denouncing the decision to reward Rushdie, whose novel "The Satanic Verses" led to a death threat from Iran in 1989.

"This knighthood is just another example of Tony Blair and his government's attempts to secularize Muslims and reward apostates," said Anjem Choudray, protest organizer and an ex-head of the British wing of the banned radical group al-Muhajiroun.

The demonstrators burned the St George's flag in a furious rally

"Rushdie is a hate figure across the Muslim world because of his insults to Islam," Choudray said.

"This honour will have ramifications here and across the world".

One of Britain's leading Muslims has branded the flag burning protestors "strange lunatics."

Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, condemned the protestors, saying: "This is unacceptable behaviour which the majority of Muslims in this country would not support.

"There's no denying a large section of the Muslim community feel very hurt about this issue. But having expressed your anger and frustration you've got to move forward.

"Unfortunately there will always be some strange lunatics, like in any community, who give others a bad name."

A prominent Iranian cleric has said the fatwa death warrant against author Salman Rushdie issued by the late Iranian Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini in 1989 was "still alive" in the Islamic Republic.

The protest has drawn hundreds of angry British muslims to Regents Park Mosque in North London

The comments by Ahmad Khatami at Friday prayers broadcast on state radio were the latest sign of the anger in Iran sparked by Britain's decision to award a knighthood to Rushdie.

Muslims say his novel "The Satanic Verses" blasphemed against the Prophet Mohammad and ridiculed the Koran. "In the Islamic Iran that revolutionary fatwa of Imam (Khomeini) is still alive and cannot be changed," Khatami, who often rails against the West, told worshippers in Tehran.

I hope they burn their fecking fingers!!!

If they don't like it, go somewhere else.

If they are so insecure in their own faith then they need counselling.

I was not toobothered by SR's award, however i now think its a great idea. Muslims should accept it as we have to accept a lot of things because of "inclusion" thus that door should work both ways.

At least burn flags ofver useful things like tax etc.

I note they've learned to print the posters now after the bloke who got clocked making the posters was identified by them all being in the same handwriting!

If I could ID that tw4t with the banner cursing Her Majesty I'd bring a private prosecution for treason.

I've just taped up my windows, and taught my missus the quick-draw method of getting under the kitchen table. Truly, I'm sh!tting my pants. I've also hidden my Union Jack (but that's more to keep it out of the hands of Bliar and his party than the filth spouting ragheads in Londonistan).

Honestly, does anyone here give one solitary flying fcuk what these murdering terrorist lunatics think? I don't.

And I take it that Her Majesty's constabulary stood by and done nothing, yet again. Obviously, it's okay for Muslims to burn our flag,a symbol of the country that took them in, but if us Brits try to have our say, we're construed as racists. I was under the impression that flag burning could be read as a racial incitement, but then again, what does my opinion count for, I'm only British.

The article is fairly balanced, it gives various sides of the argument, it makes it clear that the protesters are in a minority.

Point of interest, all the banners have been printed in the same font, point size and paper size.

That shows how non spontaneous the whole thing is.

Don't get excited by it.

Many people on this site think the government has been pandering to Muslims, but these chaps think he has been trying to secularise them. I'm confused.

Oh and if they don't like this country, they can fcuk off somewhere else.

Don't give a fcuk what they believe or say but the muppet holding the sign cursing Her Majesty needs to be locked up in the tower, now! Do you actually think any of us could go to Pakistan and burn their flag, on their streets and get away with it? We are beyond a joke letting these poisonous muppets publically display their contempt for our country, religion, history. Hang em all (you the same rope obviously, got to think of the environment these days).

Can anyone explain to me why someone would come here, hate it, but STAY??

I have a lot of respect for anyone who is brave enough to set up a new life in a stange country. If my parents were brave enough to do that, but I didn't like their choice, I hope I'd have the courage to go elsewhere and try for myself. It's completely beyond me why someone should think it's OK to live here, while bitching about how dreadful the majority of us are.

Whatever happened to the ARRSE "Heathrow is THAT WAY" T-shirt campaign?

I can't help thinking that were mohammed to return to this world, he would think what the fcuk is all this fuss about?

Salmon's book doesnt really make fun of the koran, its a rubbish book(Satanic Verses) , and the koran is anything but fun. Still it gets people all hot and bothered and burning things and stuff, and Rushdie a knighthood so i guess he got it right after all.

Two things I noticed from the photos posted were:

1. Why if they want to be taken seriously, are they allowing protestors who are wearing shemaghs and head bands to cover their faces. Just makes them look like Islamic Terrorists. Hardly helps their cause does it.

2. The one flag of Saint George being burnt had Muslims on it. Is this a subliminal message to burn all muslims?

I think that if they want to make a legitimate protest, they need to think about it a little more.

FFS How often is the Catholic Church or Christianity lambasted or satirised. I can name several films which have taken the p1ss out of Catholisism - Dogma and the Life of Brian to name two. Muslims need to learn how to relax and occassionally laugh at themselves.

I believe it's something to do with Neue Arbeit and Limp Deb Political Correctness ... after all - its not as if it's a criminal offence such as an OAP holding back part of his council tax because services were not provided, or even worse not having a TV licence

... makes my blood boil :frustrated:
