British Lions tour to South Africa 2021

All internationals, including the Lions tours, are run under the authority of WR. The Saffer DoR is charged by the disciplinary committee of WR and the charges brought against him are “broad” and “comprehensive.”

Their rules and I cannot see them awarding the series to BiL, even though it is still in their power alongside many other sanctions.
The other point is we lost. We weren't good enough, got our tactics wrong and IMHO picked the wrong side to do the job.
Erasmus was not the reason we lost the series.

I don't think WR will overturn the result, what I think we will see is Erasmus disciplined and with that SA Rugby, I can also see new laws on water carriers etc. for next season.

Didn’t I just write that? Give me strength.

I was responding to this "What I am questioning is their authority to overturn the results of a series of games that were not played as part of a competition that they organised ."

It was organised through WR, just as ALL internationals are.

It would be ridiculous to change the outcome of the tour, but it would be more appropriate to remove SA from the Lions schedule.

8 out of 9 world cups have went to the southern hemisphere. The Lions want to play the best; that's SA, NZ & Aus. That won't change (/drift; I'm in favour of bolting on a 'best of what's available' Fiji/ Toga/ Samoa team onto a NZ or Aus tour perhaps as a warm up match and commercialism).

Erasmus may well get disciplined and the rules regarding water carriers/ physios conduct tightened up, but we agree that changing the outcome of the series is ridiculous.

This has become a bit of a personal irritation* for me - although it started with a certain kicking coach being used to run the kicking tee on and then stand behind (to coach?) the kicker. I have no issue with medics coming on uninvited by the referee, because it could prevent an injury getting worse, but the hoard of 'water carriers' swarming the pitch has got beyond a joke. Not to mention the 'water carrier' whose job is to video the huddle with his mobile phone.

E2A: I re-watched the Chiefs/Sharks semi-final yesterday and spotted a medic wiping the ball down for the hooker to throw in to a lineout.

* I accept that my personal irritations will not, necessarily, drive WR policy.

Absolutely agree
Jenkins has been doing it for god knows how long without sanction. He shouldn’t be allowed on the park. That Erasmus did it it’s now an issue ??

It is an issue in all top class rugby, it is time it was stamped out as it ruins the game. water carriers should be that not coaches or any other club official that can influence the game.

It used to be a job for youngsters, junior players from the school age teams.

Could easily revert to that.

Yes it is and I’ve been long critical of Jenkins being allowed to basically coach during the game. The point I was making is why hasn’t it been stopped before

It's the same as feeding in the scrums. It has slowly crept into the game and now no one has the balls to stop it. Nigel Owens was asked why he didn't penalise scrum halfs and he couldn't answer it. He said something like, I know I should but we just allow it to happen.
Rugby needs a big shake up IMHO. The laws of the game need to be applied across the board from internationals to the Sunday old and bold league. The TMO should only be used as a last resort, not as the go to reference because the ref is not up to the job. All referees should go to scrum school and learn the rules regarding binding, pushing straight etc. and then apply them fairly and consistantly.
Player safety is paramount, but rugby is a physical contact sport. Deliberate foul play should be carded but an accidental clash of heads is not cause for a ban.

Rant over.

Too much money in the game, so professional fouls etc creep in, plus reviews/tmo visits.
Ruining the free flo of play, IMHO.
Lions second test... 126 minutes????
As for physios, medics etc?
Adding 2 or 3 huddles is like putting in tank traps.
Injured? Stop all play, get him off. You play with 13 or 14 til ref says come back on.

Perfect example. Kolbe milking injury, Erasmus all over the pitch during play like a rash. All that shite has to stop.
