British Army Browser Toolbar

Discussion in 'ARRSE: Site Issues' started by ToolBar_Turkey, Aug 18, 2006.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. You may ask........ What's this all about?

Well............. I thought it might be a good idea to have one web site (and a Browser Toolbar - more on that later) dedicated to all things British Army, a central point providing links to British Army related Web Sites.

The idea is not that I will trawl the Internet for British Army related web sites to add to a site, instead I would ask you the British Army and EX-British Army Community to advise me of the locations of the best British Army web sites on the Internet, now these sites may be your own web site, your association web site or in fact any British Army related web site you may have come across whilst surfing the world wide web.

You then provide me with that information and I go see what it's all about and add it to to the British Army Browser Toolbar (wait for it!).

I then contact the web site owner and advise him/her that his/her web site is included on the British Army Browser Toolbar and ask the site owner to include a download link to the British Army Browser Toolbar download page to provide his/her site visitors the opportunity to download the toolbar and thereby spread the word.

You are now advised to download the British Army Browser Toolbar by clicking on the banner at the top of this page.

When you wish to advise me of a British Army Related Web Site just click on "British Army" on the left hand side of the toolbar, this will take you to a Contact Form on this site with which you will use to send me the web site's location (URL).

However, I would ask you first to check via the British Army Browser Toolbar to ensure that the web site is not already listed. ARRSE is already listed!

  2. Wow - A toolbar, I can't believe this hasn't been thought of before now...

    Turkey, I salute you!

No BFG would never take the piss.

I think it's a fantastic idea, can you make a button giving instant access to Arrse ?
(Seeing as you were a matelot like...)

  7. Oh, Right! you were taking the P*SS, didn't see that the first time around ( well, I was an Air Traffic Controller )

I've downloaded the ARRSE Toolbar, I don't think that we are competing as the ARRSE Toolbar is basically all ARRSE ( :D ) and the British Army Toolbar is designed to be more general ( there's no Generals on ARSSE is there? ).

  8. "Oh Yes He Was!"

There's already a link to ARRSE on there.

  9. Hi Linky,

Yes, I am now aware of that, missed it first time around!

I'm please to say that BFG's ARRSE Toolbar is specific to ARRSE, mine is more "General" British Army.

I am also providing the same for the RN, the RM and the RAF

  11. My Bold.

How much adaware and spyware then may I ask?

    Not that I want it.

  12. Where did you get that image of ME!

  13. The same as on the ARRSE Toolbar, absolutely NONE!

  14. I have BFG's masterpiece installed as well, but I thought I should give this a go as well, being an uber-nerd. Well, not as nerdy as Cait, but hey-ho! :D

Ummm....there's a lot of stuff about the Royal Artillery on the drop-downs - which I clearly applaud - but how do people add their own Regiments and Corps? Or am I being a divvy?

    Divvy of Salisbury.

Edited to add: The spacing of the various drop-downs is a little cramped - any chance your next update can fix that? And a funky little 'Army' icon would look better as opposed to the hideous 'British Army' in luminescent red...just a thought...

  15. Hi Divvy, sorry Darth!

The "Project" was only started today and design and technology requires a lot of tweaking.

However, "people" only have to click on "British Army" on the left hand side of the Toolbar and complete the form that appears!

You can't actually add your details directly to the toolbar, because I'm not interested in your porn sites :D

You point regarding using and "Army" Icon was considered. However, from past experiences I discovered the MOD could get a little bitchy about their copyright!
