Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Any ideas on if there's a 'British Army 2003/2004: A Pocket Guide' out or, more importantly, whether the 'series' has been discontinued?

It was a bloody good thing and would be a shame if it had ceased to exist.
  2. The old pocket guide is now the comprehensive version! :D
  3. Thanks. there seems to be a tri-service version knocking around bookstores now.
  4. Book is by Major Charles Heyman. Latest edition should be available on the Pen and Sword website in June.
  5. nice one. was expecting a new edition out summer 03 but never saw it.
  6. According to the website, which I can't remember the details of, the 2004 and the 2005 books are already being edited.

The Tri-Service book is top-notch, complete with lots of nerdish details. However the Army book is the best investment. So much so that it is mandatory reading for the Regular Commissions Board.

Soon to be the smallest book in the world, covering both regular battalions in the British Army!
  8. The ironic thing is that I'm sure this year's book covering all three services is smaller than the book covering just the Army was a couple of editions back...[/quote]
