#1
Ladies and Gentlemen,

May I introduce the Lions:

We have pleasure in announcing the provisional squad for the British & Irish Lions’ forthcoming tour to New Zealand.

The selections listed below are subject to fitness assessment and will be finalised on 22 May 2005. Players named in the standby lists are invited to train with the squad prior to departure for New Zealand and should remain available during the tour in case of injury to members of the touring party. They may in turn be replaced by others with whom we have been in touch in recent days. Captain and vice-captains are to be selected at a later date.

We are grateful to players’ clubs for their release for the period of the tour; however, club and country names are omitted below in keeping with the spirit of the Lions.

We are also pleased to welcome Andy Farrell to the coaching team.

official squad comes out on monday but wouldn't think thats too far off it
don't think mr. wilkinson will be on it though they refused to pay his insurance as, if and when he gets injured it would have put them in liquidation if they had to pay out

The very fact that nine Scots appear in the list means it must be bogus...I can't see anyone much beyond Taylor and Cusiter getting the nod. However if they do go, could they bring us back some centres from New Zealand??? Oh and possibly a fly-half? :p
