Those very Old and Bold may recall Brigadier Peter Aylwin-Foster from his days at Minley Manor. Sad to say, he passed away on Monday 5 November 2007. Not having met him while he was a serving soldier, I'm unable to provide an obituary. Perhaps somebody could oblige. Peter was well-liked and respected in the firm that he joined on retirement from the Army. This was where I met him. He was responsible for converting me from a TA infantryman into a specialist Sapper. For that, he earned my gratitude (especially in respect of the T2 trade pay). He was always approachable and, to me, highlighted the difference between a Sapper Officer and one of the "others."
