Brexit Phase Two - Trade

So it is Ireland’s fault that the U.K. has decided to leave the EU, leave the Customs Union, leave the EEA, etc etc
'Kin right mate. See if the Irish had had the backbone to refute the "constitution" we wouldn't have Lisbon. At what point we will leave the EEA is yet unclear, cos it is to me-since technically we cant leave it geographically, but somehow the EU has claimed rights:?. But that of course is nothing to do with the CU or the single market. Just cos someone calls it something dosn't mean it doesn't already exist. The EEA has in effect existed for hundreds of years and it has operated under one guise or another. It will not cease to exist if it's name changes. Remember Hansa

Well there's a surprise. I woke up this morning. May's still there, running the show. Apparently they've got the letters to replace her they just don't have the sucker to replace her with

No doubt there'll be a huge piece on how the enfeebled May is on her last legs and at the mercy of the ERG and will be gone sometime between now and 2020.

Westminster also had a chance not to ratify it.

maybe go and read up what the EEA actually is

Little Leo thinks he’s buying himself a new Special Relationship, ( now that the UK is leaving), with Brussels. Hes going to be getting a very rude shock once Brussels no longer needs Ireland as a Schtick to bear the UK with after March 29.

Top tip Leo, the Irish are not ‘Europeans’, no matter how many star spangled sphincter flags are flown, your shared heritage is with the Anglos.
No he is doing his best to get a good deal for our country

May is probably trying to as well.... but having her strings pulled by the extreme brexiters and the DUP isn’t helping

Nope - but sensible Irish leadership would have resulted in the Irish government doing its best to reconcile the interests of the EU and the UK so it didn't fornicate off its biggest trading partner.

Allowing the EU to weaponise the Irish border issue is going to have a significant impact on the ROI's economy. It would have been in Irish interests to tell the EU to downplay that one rather than use it as a stick to beat the UK over the head with.

If I chuck a rock at the local bully, it's hardly going to be a surprise if he walks up and smacks me in the mouth.

You and your new best button smasher seem very angry irlsgt, but yet again, dig whistle anti English sentiment in Dublin had made some very short sighted political choices.

Once this is all over, Brussels will finish you off, the last remaining English speaking 1% of the E.U.
All Ireland wants is a mutually Beneficial deal (economically and politically)

Correction…

WHAT Ireland NEEDS is a mutually Beneficial deal (economically and politically)

However, little Leo has let Barmier and Junker use him to annoy the neighbours, rather than work with them.
I'm old enough to remember life on the border before the EEC or the EU. Its a total non issue that was really only there because of De Valera's 'Made in Ireland - Ourselves alone' closed door policy that put up huge tariffs on imports and shut Ireland off from the rest of the world… (Not that that ever stopped us}.

Example? Having a unique TV signal to effectively shut off Ireland from the outside world. You couldn't just buy a cheap TV in the north, it wouldn't receive RTE, you had to buy an 'Oirish' one that meant you could only watch the State propaganda channel. Remember the 60-80 foot masts in lots of gardens back in the day trying to pick up BBC or UTV on smuggled TV's to see the real world?

Popped over the back field, handful of mushrooms, grilled some bacon, tomatoes two rounds of toast. Great.

Amusing one in the letters column of the Telegraph.

May has been claiming the Brexit negotiations are 95% complete.

A reader pointed out that Montgomery claimed Market Garden was 95% successful despite failing to capture the Arnhem bridge...
