Brexit Phase Two - Trade

The leading article in the Times this morning is stating PMTM "advisors" (I'd use that term losely) are planning possible GE in November.

Can they be that stupid????

Theresa May’s team plot snap election to save Brexit

Well, the last snap election called by PMTM on the advice of her experts went so well, what could possibly go wrong a 2nd time?!? So much for 5 year fixed term 'strong and stable' government, introduced by a Conservative government!

Call me cynical (to be fair it would be one of the nicest things said about ne, on here) but 86% of Labour members want another vote! I would like to see where and how that question was asked as I doubt anywhere near 86% of Labour voters want to rerun the referendum, which a second vote would do.

Labour are f**ked. I think the Tories would get a decent majority.
Trouble is, that was the "informed thinking" when PMTM called the last snap election. That went well, didn't it!?

Yes, see Oly Robbins, the Genius of the Chequers plan
I don't think many people are seeing Saint Olly at the moment. Mrs May has been nothing if not consistent in selecting and trusting shit advisers. None of these advisers have been from the Party either, it is almost as though May does not trust the Tories! :p

187 days left until we leave the EU......that's nice.

So if you want the authentic goods, make sure they're labelled 'Le Creuset' rather than some dodgy rip-off 'Crueset' ironmongery being sold at discount prices at street markets and apparently by whatever company @overopensights works for. If you can't read the label correctly to determine that you're buying fake goods, you deserve to be ripped off. Anyone want to buy a Rollex?

https://www.lecreuset.be/?___store=be_fr
The traditional cast iron stuff they make is made in France, the other non-cast stuff can be made elsewhere including China and even UK.

E2A as you indicate though in China there are loads of rip-off products and blatant copies of western quality goods, you get what you pay for and if you can't tell the difference then more mug you!

Yes, and as I was trying to point out to the OP, if the brand name or logo is not accurate (his Crueset v Le Creuset), it's certainly going to be a rip-off, hence my 'Rollex' quip which he obviously didn't get at all.

'All cast iron is made in France, the ply is made in Europe and the stoneware cocottes in Thailand while the stoneware dining/drinking stuff is mostly made in China. This is why only some of it has 'Made in France' on it, but all has 'France' on it, since Le Creuset is a French brand.'

Thats the thing; Labour were supposed to lose heavily so people who wouldnt normaly vote for Corbyn did, thinking it would make no difference. They wont risk that again.

Most people do not want muppets running the country. I trust them to vote with their heads.

You trust the hoi polloi ? You wouldn't last long in politics:D

he's built his business in importing one high price item to one outlet...

he's obviously not a great businessman in the first place.

Does he know Sardinia and Corsica also do some pretty good wines for example?
I don't wish him any ill will, but chats like that makes me realise how many businesses must have been built by people by accident and pure luck...right place, right time...fell into it. Then there are those who have planned to a fraction of a degree, got the backing, but never got the idea off the ground. I read a stat a few years back that said 14 out of 15 new businesses fail in the UK, inside 5 years. Mostly down to cash flow problems.
I guess it's Blokes like him who have been lucky and built a business on a hobby/passion with a very narrow focus, who are the ones who feel unable to cope with change, or react to circumstances beyond their control. Been too comfortable for too long...fat dumb and happy... suddenly get all emotionally and ideologically driven. They'll have the most to fear from Brexit. Yet a bit of rational thought, or some flexibility and openness to the idea of diversifying and things might not be so bad for him. Take a measured risk?
Now Brexit is happening, they are like rabbits in the head lights. Any business that hasn't had a plan to cope with the possibility of WTO, perhaps deserves to fail, if only to provide an example for the future.

Some voters may have seen the Tories putting their own infighting ahead of the national interest and might fancy a change in government

You seem to be making the same lazy assumption that the conservatives will destroy labour that most of this board made last year. 100 seat majority was a common estimate.

Corbyn might be an old socialist, but he's an excellent campaigner when put against the leather trouser clad, robot dancing zombie PM

@Sixty ..why is he a proven liar?
Because he lies, lots. He makes up stuff all of the time, he claims that I've said all sorts but is strangely enough, unable to link to where I said it. His latest blatant fibbery is a claim that all EU veggies are chlorine washed, they aren't and so on, ad nauseam.
