Brexit Phase Two - Trade

Exactly; the EU relies on fear for its very existence and far from bringing peace to Europe, they will inevitably rip it apart.
The biggest problem the EU has is that it tried/is trying to create a USE by stealth - as such it's meeting increasing resistance from electorates who are waking up to the idea.

I think the biggest problems are going to come in the event of a euro failure. Then there will be huge tensions between countries owed money and debtor countries wanting their debts written off. And we're talking eye watering amounts of money here.

You can add into that already toxic mix that the EU's rules and regulations do not cater for a potential euro failure, and as such, they may not be able to respond in the most effective way if/when it happens.

This is all very confusing.

Remain are claiming any border controls between the Republic of Ireland and the UK will cause war, and yet, the Irish Government seems to be planning to introduce… a border.

Ireland could bring in 'Ryanair-type' passport checks after Brexit
The Irish waking up to the idea that Juncker/Barnier weaponising the border is just about to fornicate their economy.

Should have stuck up more for their interests before the terrible twins started acting like idiots.

A former British PM talked about "Events, dear boy, Events", to explain the chaos of governance. The EU is not a flexible entity and the 08 financial crash and supporting the Eurozone has stretched it beyond its ability to deal with the next big event. That event, will trigger the Eurozone collapse and the EU with it.

That logic is why I am convinced, we were always in a stronger position than remainers give the country credit for. If we crash out on WTO, there is your event.

An awful lot of fuss and nonsense seems to being made about borders when you consider that a de facto ID card come travel document is available for all Irish and would merely be a return to the situation pre EEC.

Passport Card - Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

you seem to be confused. The link is pro-EU. I'm querying it's basic premise, which is 'leaving the EU will remove controls over air pollution'. Which don't seem to be effective in the first place. I thought you were better than this. Don't start creeping up the @Baglock scale of stupid. Too much cerveza in the British bar last night?
Because a Tory government - the one ignoring existing regulations - is really going to give a shit about air quality in Swansea ..you think if the don’t comply with EU air quality regulations now, that in 9 months time they will?

Your reply encapsulates Leave’s worldview neatly;
A public health issue in the UK.

EU regulations that aim to alleviate the problem.

An English government that doesn’t give a shit about those regulations - no votes in it - so doesn’t comply.

And, look , magically it’s the fault of the EU because the controls aren’t effective

Perhaps Brexit should happen. Perhaps, the very people who will be most harmed by their own vote do need a colossal kick up the ass. Or lungs.

Now that is unpossible, @Baglock and @Brotherton Lad have expended millions of pixels telling us that the only solution is to stay in the EU.

Are you sure your information is kosher and have you cleared it with Baggie and Comrade, sorry Brother Lad? o_O

not at all. I'm merely pointing out the absurdity of the argument. Follow it through. UK air is poluted. Because the UK isn't following EU rules... Whilst it's in the EU. Leaving will be bad. Absurd. Even more absurd when you take into account that a stated benefit of the EUis trade from further afield. So even more pollutioncan be producedshipping in stuff from far and wide. No consideration for reducing the need to pollute in the first place. Good news is UK are leading the way in electric cars.

UK manufacturing bounces back in May but masks underlying weakness

A slowdown in new order inflows meant the expansion in production was achieved only by firms working through their backlogs of work. Weaker than expected sales, meanwhile, led to the largest rise in unsold stock in the survey’s 26-year history.”

The truth, as always, is more nuanced than your tractor output figures...

Granted , reduced economic activity will reduce pollution .

IIRC the number one defender of the Irish and their referendum result in the MEP meeting room was one Nigel farage... that was when the EU decided 'screw the plebs, we want Lisbon ratified'.
