Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I visited this museum yesterday, thought I'd advertise its presence, in case it had escaped people's attention.

There are no signs for it yet (they've requested Brown Tourist Signs from the council), but it is tucked away on Old Sarum Airfield near Salisbury.

They have plenty of exhibits, lots of cockpits to climb into (Harrier, Hunter, 1-11, tornado, Hawk, etc) and it is not a bad way to while away a couple of hours.

It is far from finished, by the appearance of it and by the admission of the curator, but it wasn't a bad little museum.

  2. And a link to go with.

  3. Good thinking!

I certainly enjoyed clambering in and out of the cockpits. I will be visiting again and can't wait until they get closer to the finished article - my kids and nephew (not to mention my Dad who worked on most of the types exhibited) would love it!
