First thoughts on PMBoris, will he make a difference?

Much to the chagrin of some, he's only expected to stay overnight.
The grauniad mods have been busy switching off comments on any article due to the amount of vitriolic bile their ''compassionate socialist' fans have been spewing out against PMBJ.

Doesn't like to be addressed as "Sir." Buggered if I know why he didn't just decline, being a socialist an' all.
His wife likes being called Lady Starmer!

Does that make Raab the next PM or will Gove elbow is way through?
If Boris does a Tony Crosland (the last senior cabinet member to die while still in post), then Raab becomes acting head of government (not PM) since he's nominated - as First Secretary of State and the No.2 - to take over if Boris departs.

He doesn't become PM because HMQ is the only person who may appoint the PM. What will happen is one of two things

1. The cabinet and key figures in the 1922 Committee will agree that Raab should be interim leader of the party until such time as parliament can meet and a leadership election be initiated. As the interim head of government, Raab would advise HMQ that he has been confirmed as acting leader nem con (or by a majority vote of the party's MPs) and can command a majority in the Commons. HMQ would almost certainly invite him to become the PM. ETA - he would, of course, inform HMQ (who'd know because it'd be all over the press) that he would be PM only until a leadership election and that he must inform her that she might be asked to appoint a new PM dependent upon the result of that election.

2. The cabinet and key figures in the 1922 Committee agree that Raab should take over as party leader. The party membership is polled retrospectively and agrees. Raab informs HMQ that he has been elected without opposition. She invites him, as the leader of the largest party in the Commons, to become her PM.

I imagine that there are several problems with (2), not least of which is that Boris is likely to be sent home with some extra-strength paracetamol(or similar) to control his temperature.

However, that obstacle notwithstanding, it seems almost impossible to believe that the party as a whole wouldn't want to have some sort of contest, and I imagine that Gove, possibly Hunt, Jarvid and maybe supporters of Sunak (and possibly Pritti Patel...) wouldn't accept the idea that Raab is simply waved into Number 10, and we'd see Raab become interim PM - he would, of course, be entirely at liberty to run in the subsequent leadership election and might become the most unlikely PM since Viscount Goderich in 1827.

But let's hope that's purely a matter of academic interest.

According to all the socialists on Facebook he's lying about having it

Surely, after the Speaker recalls Parliament, he will ask Kier Starmer to lead a Government of National Unity.
More likely Sturgeon popping up and saying she is the senior Minister in the UK therefore she should be in charge! :)

Did anyone ever get a letter from Boris ?

Loads of publicity that it was happening, but nothing heard about people receiving and destroying/posting up in loo or whatever.

not sure if i totally agree mate - this is a massive crisis and the tory party would sense any perceived weakness on their behalf in not being able to appoint a new leader as blood in the water for the other parties and even more importantly the money markets which could panic even more than usual so, i could quite easily see raab getting coronated swiftly with any gob shiite disenters , like that wan ker ex health secretary, beinf told to do one by the majority.

I always suspected his obesity would be a complication.
unsurprisingly enough, every single person in the ICU at Cheltenham is obese and the nurses are unable to turn them over according to an undisclosed source whose brother’s daughter is a ward sister in there.

less fat people to sneer at..

To some women having large breasts stop's them from being ms/miss/mrs average.
That said some also see it as their right even if it is not deemed to be cosmetically important.
Its a trend that Katie "Jordan" Price & others started, but then hers were done as she was getting in to films?
Unfortunatly I need bigger boobs - its me mentel elf innit all but guarantees a government funded boob job.

Conversely I have a friend who is something like a HH - they arrive an hour before her type thing - she asked for a boob reduction - they cause her difficulties - such as a bad back - (to turn over in bed she has to lift them with an arm).
No dice - she asked on medical grounds and was refused - unfortunately having been refused shes been unable to play the im depressed card.

Obesity as a factor needs to be aired more widely.

Cancer research UK tried that a few months back. The storm from both social media and the woke elements of traditional media (here is.looking at you Jeremy Vine you bellthronk) cried out that they were "fat shaming".

They should be ashamed of themselves without needing Cancer Research to prompt them. The hideous ******* blubber-balls.
